CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Chevrolet Traverse
Summary
With 27 currently listed for sale and an average price of $33,878 CAD, 11.1% of 2023 Chevrolet Traverse listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse 5 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Chevrolet Traverse stands out for one simple reason: it is built around space. Chevrolet describes the Traverse as one of the largest crossover SUVs on the market, and that size translates into a cabin that is especially appealing for families who need a genuinely roomy three-row vehicle. It also offers a comfortable suspension that smooths out rough roads, intuitive tech that is easy to use, and enough capability to tow up to 2,268 kilograms when properly configured. For buyers who want a big, practical SUV without moving to a body-on-frame design, that combination is a major part of its appeal.
For 2023, the Traverse sits in the second generation, which brought a more muscular look, a longer wheelbase, and less weight than the previous version. In Canada, it uses a 3.6-litre V6 with 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The cabin is another highlight, with a standard 7-inch colour touchscreen, an optional 8-inch unit, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, six USB inputs, three-zone automatic climate control, and keyless entry with push-button start. It also has a usable third row and 2,780 litres of cargo volume with the seats folded, which helps explain why it remains such a strong family hauler.
There are trade-offs, though. The Traverse is not as plush inside as some rivals, and it is not especially exciting to drive or look at. Its reliability record is also only average compared with some competitors, even if later second-generation models are better than the original. Still, for shoppers who value room, comfort, and straightforward everyday usability, the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse makes a strong case for itself.

The Traverse is a large mid-size SUV, and I love it. It rides and drives like a dream. The High Country trim gives all you would desire and more. I highly recommend this vehicle.

I love my new 2023 Traverse! The Premier came with all the bells and whistles. I was looking for an SUV that was roomy but still got decent gas mileage. The captain’s chairs were a must along with the 3rd row, which has plenty of leg room for an average sized person, not just small children.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 143 listings available.

What is the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?
The current average of $38,153 CAD sits slightly below last year's $44,415 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently today. For a future seller, it also means resale expectations should be set with the current softer pricing in mind. If demand stays steady, the Traverse’s family-friendly appeal should help support values, but you should not expect a quick rebound based on price trend alone.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.10% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $33,125 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $38,153 CAD average.
- It offers practical space with easy-to-use tech.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $48,512 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $38,153 CAD average.
- It adds more space and a larger touchscreen.
The bottom line: The 2023 is the best all-around choice if you want strong owner satisfaction, softer pricing, and a roomy family SUV. If your priority is saving money first, the 2022 is the better value path; if you want newer features and more space, the 2024 is the upgrade to consider.
