Is the 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, comfort, and easy-to-use technology, and they also like the heated seats, safety tech, and roomy feel. The main trade-offs are the irritating transmission and the fact that advanced safety features are not standard.

For you, that means the Trailblazer makes the most sense if you want a practical small SUV with strong value, everyday usability, and a distinctive look. With 28.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with buyers highlighting comfort, features, and the kind of day-to-day usability you can count on. The expert review also describes it as a practical small crossover with strong value and a well-equipped cabin.

Chevrolet’s warranty coverage adds some reassurance for used buyers, but you should still watch for signs of hard use and make sure the transmission behaves properly on a test drive.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LS is the most basic version, while the LT adds more flexibility with available AWD and the larger engine. Activ and RS models bring more distinctive styling, with the Activ leaning rugged and the RS leaning sporty.
• Powertrain: You get a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder with FWD, or an optional 1.3-litre turbo-three with FWD or AWD. FWD models use a CVT, while AWD models use a nine-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Teen Driver. Blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control are optional.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. An 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, a Bose audio system, rear-seat USB ports, and wireless phone charging are optional.
• Fuel efficiency: NRCan ratings range from 7.7 to 8.9 L/100 km combined depending on engine and drivetrain, and the AWD test vehicle returned 9.4 L/100 km in real-world driving.

Which 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer trim should I buy?

The 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer is offered in 4 trim levels: LS, LT, Activ, and RS.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with the most basic equipment. It is also the only trim tied to the smaller engine and FWD.
• LT: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it opens the door to AWD and the larger engine without jumping all the way to the pricier appearance-focused trims.
• Activ: Choose this if you want the more rugged look, standard roof rails, and the model-specific styling that gives the Trailblazer more personality.
• RS: Pick this if you prefer the sportier appearance package, blacked-out trim, mesh grille, and dual exhaust outlets.

The safety package is strong overall, but advanced driver-assistance features remain optional rather than standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on well-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 298 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.79% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $23,963 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer's resale value?

The current average of $24,214 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,450 CAD.

That decline suggests the Trailblazer has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect a softer resale position than a year ago unless your vehicle is especially well equipped or exceptionally clean.

The good news is that the Trailblazer still has broad appeal thanks to its style, practicality, and value. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer safe?

The 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer was named a 2022 Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave it a five-star overall safety rating, with five stars in the frontal and side crash-test categories, and four stars in rollover crash testing.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Teen Driver. Optional driver-assistance features include blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control.

One caveat is that the standard halogen headlights were only rated “Average,” so you may want to look for a vehicle equipped with the optional LED headlights.

Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong value, easy-to-use technology, and a distinctive look.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $21,774 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $24,214 CAD average.
• It adds a heated steering wheel and new paint choices.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $26,182 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $24,214 CAD average.
• It improves passenger space, cargo capacity, style, and ease of use.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, value, and current-market availability, the 2023 is the sensible default. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2022 is worth a look; if you want a slightly more polished package and can spend more, the 2024 is the better step up.
