Is the 2023 Audi Q5 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Audi Q5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

The Q5’s standard all-wheel drive and calm, quiet demeanour also reinforce its everyday dependability. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic durability and more about whether you are comfortable with premium running costs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Audi Q5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The entry trim comes with leather seating, heated front seats, a 10-inch touchscreen, and standard all-wheel drive, while higher trims add a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, and more advanced convenience features. The mid-range trim is the best-value choice because it adds a good amount of tech and safety equipment without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 201 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, a stronger 261 hp version, or a plug-in hybrid with 362 hp, 369 lb-ft of torque, and an estimated 37 km of electric-only range. All versions use a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and standard Quattro all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and front and rear parking sensors. Higher trims add lane-keep assist, a surround-view camera system, traffic jam assist, a head-up display, a semi-automated park assist system, and a traffic sign reader.
• Infotainment: Every Q5 gets a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and smartphone app connectivity. Mid-range trims add Audi’s virtual cockpit, while higher trims can include a Bang & Olufsen audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine is rated at 10.2 L/100 km in the city, 8.2 on the highway, and 9.3 combined. The stronger turbo engine is rated at 10.6 L/100 km city, 8.2 highway, and 9.5 combined. The plug-in hybrid is rated at 9.0 L/100 km combined once the battery is depleted.

Which 2023 Audi Q5 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Audi Q5 is offered in 3 trim levels: Komfort, Progressiv, Technik.

Here's the short version:

• Komfort: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Q5 experience with standard all-wheel drive, leather seating, heated front seats, and the basic safety and infotainment setup. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it is the least richly equipped version.
• Progressiv: This is the best-value trim because it adds a good amount of tech and safety equipment, including lane-keep assist, a surround-view camera system, traffic jam assist, and Audi’s virtual cockpit. If you want the sweet spot between price and features, this is the one to target.
• Technik: This is the most fully equipped version, adding matrix-design LED headlights, a head-up display, a semi-automated park assist system, and a traffic sign reader. It suits you if you want the most advanced convenience and lighting features and are willing to pay for them.

Rear-seat side impact airbags are offered as an option on all trims.

Should I buy a 2023 Audi Q5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 stands out for its attractive styling, quiet cabin, and standard all-wheel drive, while the main drawback is sluggish initial acceleration.

The bottom line: If you want a used Q5 with strong owner satisfaction, a refined cabin, and a softer price than last year, the 2023 is a sensible target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can use the current market softness to shop carefully and focus on the best-equipped trim that fits your budget.
