What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volkswagen Jetta?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline each add equipment, with the base trim missing some of the richer cabin and tech upgrades found higher up.
• Powertrain: You get a single 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, with a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic, and front-wheel drive only.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian recognition are standard, while blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist arrive from Comfortline.
• Infotainment: Trendline uses a 6.5-inch Volkswagen MIB2 system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink, Bluetooth, two USB-C ports, and an SD card multimedia interface. Comfortline and Highline get an 8-inch infotainment system, while Highline adds a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro and an 8-inch touchscreen-navigation system.
• Fuel efficiency: The manual is rated at 8.0 L/100 km city, 5.5 highway, and 6.9 combined. The automatic is rated at 7.7 L/100 km city, 5.7 highway, and 6.8 combined.

Which 2022 Volkswagen Jetta trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta is offered in 3 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Jetta experience with the 6.5-inch infotainment system, standard smartphone integration, and the fuel-efficient turbocharged engine. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but you give up some of the richer tech and safety content found higher up.
• Comfortline: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 8-inch infotainment system and unlocks important safety equipment such as blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist. If you want the most balanced mix of equipment and price, this is the one to target.
• Highline: This is the most upscale version, with the 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro, an 8-inch touchscreen-navigation system, and more premium cabin touches. It suits you best if you want the most polished Jetta experience and are willing to pay more for it.

The safety package starts with forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian recognition, then expands from Comfortline upward.

What is the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta's resale value?

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also means a future seller may face a more competitive resale environment if prices stay under pressure. The current market suggests the Jetta is still moving, but not at the same level it was a year ago. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average.
