Is the 2022 Toyota Sienna a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Toyota Sienna earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

The 2022 Toyota Sienna stands out as a hybrid minivan with a standard hybrid powertrain, and it benefits from being the second model year after a full redesign. That makes it a modern family hauler with fresh packaging and an efficiency-focused identity. The expert review also highlights its roomy cabin, clever storage, comfortable seating, and strong handling for the class.

30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Toyota Sienna reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Toyota Sienna’s standard hybrid setup and carryover redesign suggest a vehicle built around efficiency and continuity rather than major change. The expert review also points to a smooth, efficient powertrain and a 10-year/240,000-kilometre hybrid battery warranty, which supports confidence in long-term ownership.

Toyota also backs the hybrid system with an eight-year/160,000-kilometre hybrid-related component warranty. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about novelty and more about making sure the hybrid system and family-use features have been maintained properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Sienna?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LE has 17-inch wheels, a 4.2-inch multi-information display, and a six-speaker audio system, while upper trims add larger wheels, a larger display, and more premium equipment. The XLE and above bring more family-friendly convenience, and the Limited adds the most upscale feature set.
• Powertrain: You get a standard 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid setup with two electric motors and an electronically controlled CVT. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available on most trims and standard on Limited.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, Lane Tracing Assist, pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. Blind spot monitoring is also standard.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets a 9-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM, one USB media port, and six USB charging ports. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates 6.6 L/100 km city, 6.5 L/100 km highway, and 6.6 combined for front-wheel-drive models, while all-wheel-drive versions are rated at 6.8 city, 6.6 highway, and 6.7 combined.

Which 2022 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Sienna is offered in 4 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core hybrid powertrain, standard safety tech, and the essentials you need for family duty. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the extra convenience features.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without jumping to the highest price tier. It’s the trim to focus on if you want a more complete family vehicle.
• XSE: This trim adds a sportier look and can be paired with the available Technology Package, making it a good fit if you want more style and extra equipment.
• Limited: This is the most premium version, with standard all-wheel drive and the richest feature set. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Sienna available.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 and blind spot monitoring are standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Sienna?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it’s worth shopping carefully and comparing listings.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 136 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.50% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $45,488 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Sienna's resale value?

The current average of $47,853 CAD sits slightly below last year's $50,636 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices continue to ease. The current trend suggests the Sienna is holding value reasonably well, but not aggressively appreciating. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota Sienna safe?

The 2022 Toyota Sienna was a five-star vehicle according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the 2021 model received a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), with the 2022 model expected to match that result.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, Lane Tracing Assist lane centring, pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. Blind spot monitoring is also standard, along with Toyota’s Star Safety System, 10 airbags, and rear-seat reminder functionality.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It carries forward the redesigned hybrid formula with no major changes.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $41,234 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $47,853 CAD average.
• It introduced the Sienna’s standard hybrid powertrain and full redesign.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $50,204 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $47,853 CAD average.
• It adds more emphasis on space, safety, and family-friendly practicality.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the right pick if you want the redesigned Sienna with standard hybrid efficiency and a slightly softer used price than newer examples. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2021 can be a smart value play because it delivers the same core redesign and hybrid identity for less.
