The current average of $23,518 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,215 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favourable point in the cycle, but it also means a future sale may need to be priced competitively. If the market stays steady, the current discounting could support stronger value retention for buyers who purchase well. A clean, well-kept example should remain easier to move than one with visible wear or incomplete service records.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Corolla Hatchback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $22,743 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $23,518 CAD average.
• It blends Corolla efficiency and reliability with added style and comfort.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $24,838 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $23,518 CAD average.
• It adds more cargo space and a stronger focus on style, technology, and safety.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the balanced choice if you want a well-rated hatchback with softer pricing and decent deal availability. If your priority is spending less, the 2021 is the better value path; if you want more utility and newer features, the 2023 is worth the extra money.
