Used 2022 Nissan Frontier for Sale nearSt. John's, NL

How much does the 2022 Nissan Frontier cost?

Prices have softened 8.74% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 115 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of choice in the used market.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Nissan Frontier earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its design, comfort, roomy cabin, and powerful engine. For you, that means this truck makes the most sense if you want a midsize pickup that feels more modern inside and more capable than its age might suggest. It also fits buyers who want practical everyday use with real off-road capability, while still accepting some trade-offs in steering feel, fuel economy, and rear seat space.

The market also shows 30.4% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a truck that feels solid, dependable, and easy to live with, especially for shoppers who value a strong engine and a comfortable cabin. The owner summary also suggests many drivers see it as a solid upgrade, even if reliability impressions are mixed versus some competitors.

The expert assessment reinforces that sense of durability by highlighting the Frontier’s robust powertrain and its ability to handle highway passing, towing, and trail use with confidence. Nissan also includes a maintenance perk in the ownership experience through the first scheduled maintenance visit being covered.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some owners report concerns about fuel economy, steering heaviness, and rear seat space rather than major mechanical red flags.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Frontier?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The PRO-4X stands out with off-road-ready character, charcoal leather seating, and a 9-inch screen, while the lower S and SV trims use an 8-inch touchscreen. If you want the most equipment and the strongest feature set, the PRO-4X is the trim to focus on.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.8-litre V6 with 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic. The truck also uses 4WD with 4-Hi and 4-Lo modes, and the powertrain includes tow mode for improved performance under load.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, intelligent forward collision warning, lane departure warning, trailer sway control, rear-door alert, adaptive cruise control, and an easy-fill tire alert. Traffic sign recognition is offered on the PRO-4X grade.
• Infotainment: The lowest-level S and one-step-up SV trims get an 8-inch touchscreen, while the PRO-4X gets a 9-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but they require a wired connection; wireless projection is not supported. Wireless charging and Wi-Fi hotspot capability are included on the PRO-4X.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel consumption at 13.7 L/100 km in the city, 10.6 L/100 km on the highway, and 12.3 L/100 km combined.

Which 2022 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Frontier is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, PRO-4X.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the redesigned Frontier. You still get the core truck experience, standard safety tech, and the 8-inch touchscreen, but it is the most basic choice.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more everyday appeal without jumping all the way to the off-road-focused model. It keeps the 8-inch screen and gives you a more balanced mix of equipment and price.
• PRO-4X: This is the trim to choose if you want the most capability and the richest feature set. It brings the 9-inch screen, wireless charging, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, off-road hardware, and the most distinctive cabin details.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard across the lineup, so even the lower trims start with a strong safety foundation.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Frontier?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should have room to compare listings and wait for the right one.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 115 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.74% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,125 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $38,125 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,775 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Frontier has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help keep demand steady in the near term. For a future seller, it also means you may need to price competitively if you want to stand out against similarly equipped trucks. The good news is that a well-regarded redesign and strong owner satisfaction can help support buyer interest over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier safe?

The 2022 Nissan Frontier has not been crash-tested yet by either NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard, and it includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, intelligent forward collision warning, lane departure warning, trailer sway control, rear-door alert, adaptive cruise control, and an easy-fill tire alert. Traffic sign recognition is available on the PRO-4X grade.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a redesigned cabin, stronger power, and real off-road capability.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $42,014 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $38,125 CAD average.
• It adds a few more standard features and feels a bit more settled.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a fresh redesign. If you are willing to pay more for a slightly newer truck with a few extra standard features, the 2023 is the alternative to consider.

How does the 2022 Nissan Frontier compare to the 2022 Toyota Tacoma?

Our experts score the 2022 Nissan Frontier 8.3/10 and the 2022 Toyota Tacoma 7.5/10.

The Frontier brings the stronger expert score, a lower average used price, and a much smaller inventory pool than the Tacoma. The Tacoma has more listings and a higher average used price, so it may give you more shopping choice but less value on average. If you want the better-equipped truck for the money, the Frontier has the edge; if you want more listings to compare, the Tacoma is easier to find.
