Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB a good car?

Generally — 4/5 from owners and 7.3/10 from our experts point to a model that fits your needs best if you value utility in a compact luxury SUV. The GLB’s boxy shape is built to maximise practicality in tight city streets and parking spaces, and it stands out for offering seating for up to seven people in a relatively small footprint.

The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

That combination of space efficiency, Mercedes luxury touches, and strong tech makes it appealing if you want usefulness first and style second. 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The GLB’s appeal is rooted in practicality and everyday usability, and the expert assessment reinforces that it is designed to be a useful compact SUV rather than a flashy one. The performance notes also suggest the GLB250 is the better daily-driver choice, which matters if you want a version that feels easier to live with over time.

If you’re buying used, the main ownership risk is choosing a heavily optioned or performance-focused example that may be less comfortable and more demanding in regular driving.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GLB250 is the more practical choice, while the AMG GLB35 adds more aggressive styling, a more powerful drivetrain, and exclusive vertical grille bars. The base GLB250 is the better fit if you want the room and utility without the AMG trade-offs.
• Powertrain: Both versions use a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-4-cylinder engine, but the AMG GLB35 is tuned for much stronger output and quicker acceleration. It also brings an AMG SpeedShift eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, AMG Performance variable 4Matic AWD, AMG Sport Exhaust, Dynamic Cornering Assist, and AMG Dynamics modes.
• Safety package: The Driver Assistance Package adds 12 driving-assistance and collision-avoidance technologies, including adaptive cruise control and lane-centring assistance. Some test vehicles may be missing features such as evasive steering assist, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic warning, and Active Emergency Stop Assist.
• Infotainment: MBUX is standard, and the AMG GLB35 includes a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Bluetooth is standard, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are optional in Canada; Wi-Fi service, a head-up display, and a surround-view camera system are also available.
• Fuel efficiency: The GLB250 is rated at 9.5 L/100 km in combined driving, while the AMG GLB35 is rated at 11.2 L/100 km combined. The AMG version’s extra performance comes with a clear fuel-consumption penalty.

Which 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB is offered in 2 trim levels: GLB250 and AMG GLB35.

Here's the short version:

• GLB250: This is the trim to target if you want the GLB’s core strengths: compact dimensions, useful interior space, and a more relaxed daily-driving character. It’s the better-value choice for most used buyers because it avoids the AMG model’s firmer ride, louder road noise, and more demanding personality.
• AMG GLB35: Choose this only if you specifically want the performance-focused version. It adds much stronger acceleration, sharper responses, and more aggressive hardware, but it also brings more compromises in comfort and everyday refinement.

For safety, the Driver Assistance Package is the one to prioritise if you want the most complete driver-assistance coverage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 121 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.52% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $33,123 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB's resale value?

The current average of $33,346 CAD sits slightly below last year's $39,473 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if values continue to ease. If you plan to resell later, buying well matters more than usual because your eventual exit price will depend heavily on how much depreciation has already been absorbed.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB safe?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB does not have crash-test ratings listed here.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The GLB includes standard Active Brake Assist, which combines forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, along with rain-sensing wipers and Attention Assist driver monitoring. Blind-spot monitoring is optional, and the Driver Assistance Package adds 12 more driving-assistance and collision-avoidance technologies, including adaptive cruise control and lane-centring assistance.

One important caveat is that the test vehicle was missing several advanced safety features, including evasive steering assist, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic warning, and Active Emergency Stop Assist. If safety tech matters to you, that package is worth prioritising.

Should I buy a 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 stands out for its strong technology score and its practical, space-efficient packaging.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $30,524 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $33,346 CAD average.
• It stands out for its optional third row and flexible interior layout.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current-market value, strong tech, and compact-SUV practicality, the 2022 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front and you still want the GLB’s flexible packaging, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path.
