Is the 2022 Mazda CX-30 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Mazda CX-30 earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, spacious interior, and quiet ride, and many also like its powerful engine and fun-to-drive character. On the downside, some owners mention visibility concerns, minor electrical problems, and an outdated infotainment system.

That lines up with the CX-30’s role as a small SUV for you if you want a more upscale feel, refined ride quality, and engaging driving manners rather than the simplest possible cabin layout. It also posts 32.0% good or great deals, which is a healthy sign of market availability.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels reliable, quiet, and generally trouble-free for everyday use, with many drivers expressing confidence in its long-term ownership experience. The expert assessment also supports that impression by describing Mazda’s refined, higher-quality approach and the CX-30’s solid overall execution.

Mazda’s Canadian warranty coverage includes three years of full vehicle coverage with roadside assistance and five years on the powertrain, which helps reduce early ownership risk. For used buyers, the main long-term concern is less about outright durability and more about whether you can live with the infotainment quirks and the occasional owner-reported electrical issue.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mazda CX-30?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GX is the most basic version, but it still includes standard all-wheel drive, heated front seats, rain-sensing wipers, an 8.8-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The GS adds 18-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear climate vents, and more premium convenience features. The GT adds a power liftgate, paddle shifters, full leather upholstery, a head-up display, and adaptive headlights, and it is the only trim that can be paired with the turbo engine.
• Powertrain: The GX uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. The GS and GT use a 2.5-litre four-cylinder with 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. The turbocharged 2.5-litre adds much stronger output, with 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft on 87 octane fuel, or 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft on 93 octane fuel.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while higher grades add traffic-sign recognition, front-and-rear parking sensors, and reverse automatic emergency braking. Available driver-assistance features include forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The CX-30 uses an 8.8-inch screen controlled by a rotary dial rather than touch input. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but the system does not support touch operation and can be frustrating to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.0-litre engine is rated at 9.4 L/100 km city, 7.7 highway, and 8.6 combined. The 2.5-litre is rated at 9.9 city, 7.7 highway, and 8.9 combined. The turbo engine is rated at 10.5 city, 7.9 highway, and 9.3 combined.

Which 2022 Mazda CX-30 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mazda CX-30 is offered in 3 trim levels: GX, GS, GT.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, but it still gives you standard all-wheel drive, heated front seats, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the core safety equipment. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the CX-30 without giving up the essentials.
• GS: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, rear vents, and more premium comfort features. If you want the sweet spot between price and everyday comfort, this is the one to target.
• GT: This is the most upscale choice, with leather upholstery, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, a power liftgate, and the option to add the turbo engine. It suits you best if you want the most premium CX-30 experience.

The safety package is strongest as you move up the range, with higher trims adding more driver-assistance and parking technology.

What is the 2022 Mazda CX-30's resale value?

The current average of $24,826 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,402 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the CX-30 has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help future sellers by keeping the model attractive to value-focused shoppers. At the same time, the lower current average means you should expect resale values to reflect today’s more competitive market rather than the stronger pricing seen a year ago.

Because the CX-30 still has broad appeal as a stylish, well-equipped small SUV, it should remain reasonably easy to move if you keep it in good condition. Should I buy a 2022 Mazda CX-30 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.59% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines upscale design, standard all-wheel drive, and strong safety ratings.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $24,800 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $24,826 CAD average.
• It offers a more premium feel with available turbo power and strong value.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $28,057 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $24,826 CAD average.
• It adds a classy interior and enjoyable driving dynamics, but rear-seat space is tighter.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, safety, and upscale character, the 2022 is the primary path to consider. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2021 is worth a look; if you want a newer alternative and can spend more, the 2023 remains appealing.
