CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Mazda CX-30
overall

Summary
With 47 currently listed for sale and an average price of $24,934 CAD, 21.3% of 2022 Mazda CX-30 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Mazda CX-30 4.7 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Mazda CX-30 stands out in the subcompact SUV class by delivering a more upscale feel than many rivals. Mazda’s reputation for higher-quality interiors and a more refined ride comes through here, and the CX-30 is described as having elegant interior design and sporty handling. It is also positioned as a model that addresses the shortcomings of the CX-3 while keeping that crossover’s fun-to-drive character.
For buyers, the appeal is a cabin that feels more spacious than the CX-3’s and uses premium interior materials, along with standard advanced safety features. The CX-30 is also praised for being fun to drive, which helps it feel more engaging than many small SUVs. Its main drawbacks are a base engine that is described as underwhelming and an infotainment system that can be confusing, so it is strongest for shoppers who value refinement and driving enjoyment over outright simplicity.

I bought my Mazda because it was a great value, had all wheel drive, and had extremely low mileage. It has most of the standard features you find on today’s vehicles. It’s a smooth ride and fuel efficient. I am very happy with my purchase.

How much does the 2022 Mazda CX-30 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $25,005 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $24,887 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $28,127 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $28,127 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −11.10% |
Prices have softened 11.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 294 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2022 Mazda CX-30 a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Mazda CX-30 earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its stylish design, premium-feeling interior, and enjoyable performance. The cabin is also described as spacious and quiet, which helps it feel more upscale than many small SUVs.
The main trade-offs are a base engine that feels underwhelming and an infotainment system that can be confusing to use. That said, if you want a subcompact SUV that feels refined and engaging rather than purely utilitarian, this model year fits that brief well.
With 32.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.
Is the 2022 Mazda CX-30 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with praise for its quiet ride, strong performance, and overall satisfaction over time. Reviewers also describe it as a model you can count on for a polished ownership experience.
Mazda’s Canadian warranty coverage adds some reassurance for long-term ownership, and the CX-30’s refined mechanical character supports that impression. For used buyers, the main risk is less about core durability and more about whether you can live with the infotainment quirks and the reported minor electrical issues.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mazda CX-30?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The GX gives you standard all-wheel drive, heated front seats, rain-sensing wipers, an 8.8-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an eight-speaker sound system. The GS adds 18-inch alloy wheels, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear climate vents, and available Luxury Package upgrades such as synthetic leather upholstery, a power moonroof, and a 10-way power driver’s seat with memory. The GT adds a power liftgate, paddle shifters, full leather upholstery, a head-up display, and adaptive headlights, while the Advanced Visibility Package adds front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and Traffic Jam Assist.
- Powertrain: The GX uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. The GS and GT use a 2.5-litre four-cylinder with 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. The turbocharged 2.5-litre upgrade delivers 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft on 87 octane fuel, or 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft on 93 octane fuel, and it is paired with a six-speed automatic.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rain-sensing wipers. Available features include forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, front-and-rear parking sensors, and reverse automatic emergency braking. Higher grades add more of the advanced driver-assistance content.
- Infotainment: The infotainment screen measures 8.8 inches on the GX and is controlled by a rotary dial rather than touch input. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, but the system does not support touch operation and can be frustrating to use.
- Fuel efficiency: The base 2.0-litre engine is rated at 9.4 L/100 km city, 7.7 L/100 km highway, and 8.6 L/100 km combined. The 2.5-litre engine is rated at 9.9 city, 7.7 highway, and 8.9 combined. The turbo engine is rated at 10.5 city, 7.9 highway, and 9.3 combined.
Which 2022 Mazda CX-30 trim should I buy?
The 2022 Mazda CX-30 is offered in 3 trim levels: GX, GS, and GT.
Here's the short version:
- GX: This is the entry point, but it still gives you standard all-wheel drive, heated front seats, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a strong safety baseline. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the CX-30 without giving up the core appeal.
- GS: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more polished cabin feel with a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, rear vents, and available Luxury Package upgrades. If you want the sweet spot between price and comfort, this is the one to focus on.
- GT: This trim is for you if you want the most upscale equipment, including leather upholstery, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, and a power liftgate. It also unlocks the turbocharged engine, which is the most powerful setup in the lineup.
The GT is also the only trim that can be paired with the turbo engine and Advanced Visibility Package, so safety and visibility upgrades are concentrated at the top end.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mazda CX-30?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare options and enough price softness to reward patience.
- Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 294 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.10% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $24,887 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Mazda CX-30's resale value?
The current average of $25,005 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,127 CAD.
That price movement suggests the CX-30 has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help future sellers by broadening the pool of shoppers. A lower entry price can also make the model easier to move if it remains well kept and properly equipped.
At the same time, the softer market means resale gains may be more limited in the near term unless your vehicle is in especially strong condition. Well-equipped trims and clean examples should still hold appeal because the CX-30’s premium feel remains a key selling point.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Mazda CX-30 safe?
The CX-30 earns Top Safety Pick+ recognition from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rain-sensing wipers. Available driver-assistance features include forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher grades add traffic-sign recognition, front-and-rear parking sensors, and reverse automatic emergency braking.
One caveat is that many of the more advanced safety features are not standard in Canada, so you may need to shop higher trims to get the full suite.
Should I buy a 2022 Mazda CX-30 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.10% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines upscale design with standard all-wheel drive and strong safety coverage.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $24,659 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $25,005 CAD average.
- It offers a more value-focused take on the CX-30 with available turbo power.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $27,810 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $25,005 CAD average.
