What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Carnival?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX and LX+ use the standard grille and 17-inch wheels, while EX adds 19-inch machined-finish wheels, simulated open-pore wood trim, and SynTex simulated leather. EX trims and up also get the mirrored grid-pattern grille, and SX adds black wheels, textured metal dashboard trim, real leather, and VIP Lounge Seats.
• Powertrain: Every Carnival uses a 3.5-litre V6 with 290 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. It is described as smooth and effortless, but there is no all-wheel drive or electrified option.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure and keeping assistance, rear parking sensors, a driver monitoring system, and a reversing camera with dynamic parking guidance lines. EX adds front parking sensors, active blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning with collision avoidance, active rear cross-traffic warning, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability.
• Infotainment: LX gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and six speakers. EX+ brings a 12.3-inch widescreen system with HD Radio, SiriusXM, voice recognition, navigation, an embedded modem for UVO Link, wireless smartphone charging, and eight speakers. EX+ and SX also add a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says it should use 10.6 L/100 km in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 10.8 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Kia Carnival trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Carnival is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, LX+, EX, EX+, and SX.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Carnival experience with the 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the standard safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it is the most basic version.
• LX+: This trim keeps the same general setup as LX while adding wireless smartphone charging in Canada. It is a sensible step up if that convenience matters to you.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the mirrored grille, 19-inch wheels, SynTex simulated leather, more advanced safety tech, and more upscale cabin materials.
• EX+: This trim is the technology sweet spot, with the 12.3-inch widescreen infotainment system, navigation, UVO Link connected services, wireless charging, the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and the surround-view camera system.
• SX: This is the most luxurious version, with real leather, black wheels, VIP Lounge Seats, the digital cluster, and the Bose audio system.

Safe Exit Assist is included on EX and up, while the surround-view camera system and Blind View Monitor start with EX+.

• Deal availability: 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 108 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.61% compared with last year.

What is the 2022 Kia Carnival's resale value?

The current average of $30,810 CAD sits slightly below last year's $36,080 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Carnival has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier to attract interest if you decide to sell later. A softer market today can also mean your own resale expectations should be more conservative than they would have been a year ago.

Even so, the Carnival’s strong mix of space, comfort, and technology should help it remain appealing to family shoppers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Carnival or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Kia’s MPV approach gives you SUV styling, VIP-style seating, and strong technology.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $33,413 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $30,810 CAD average.
• It keeps the stylish minivan formula while emphasizing value and practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the better price and strong owner satisfaction, the 2022 is the smarter buy. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2023 is the better path for shoppers who want the same basic formula with a fresh-year alternative.
