Is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.93/5 user rating and a 5.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its iconic design, fun driving experience, and customisable features, and many also like the easy-to-use soft top and strong off-road capability. The trade-offs are familiar too: some owners mention pricing concerns, gas mileage, and basic equipment in certain versions. For you, that means the Wrangler makes the most sense if you value personality, open-air driving, and trail ability more than everyday polish. It also has 30.9% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.93/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that owners feel they can count on for its distinctive character, customisation, and off-road use. The expert evaluation also describes it as a vehicle with a singular, memorable driving experience and a long-running reputation for rugged capability. Jeep’s 48-volt eTorque setup is presented as adding a bit of extra electric-motor muscle and helping overall fuel economy, and the model’s appeal is tied to its durable, go-anywhere personality. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Wrangler’s compromises can wear on you if you expect low-stress daily commuting.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Wrangler?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The core trims are Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon. Base versions can feel quite basic, while higher trims and option packages add features such as LED exterior lighting, a body-colour hardtop, and the Sunrider Fliptop. If you want the best value, the Sport S is the trim most clearly used as the reference point for a well-equipped Wrangler.
• Powertrain: You can shop for a turbocharged four-cylinder, a gasoline V6, a turbodiesel V6, a gas V8, or the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain. The V6 setup in the test vehicle uses eTorque mild-hybrid electrification, an eight-speed automatic, and full-time 4WD.
• Safety package: The Safety Group adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. The Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beam headlights. These features are not standard, so check carefully for them.
• Infotainment: The standard setup described here uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The larger 8.4-inch Uconnect system adds satellite radio, connected services including a WiFi hotspot, navigation, and an Alpine premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The eTorque V6 is rated at 11.2 L/100 km in combined driving, while the test vehicle averaged 13.4 L/100 km on the evaluation route and 14.0 L/100 km over a week.

Which 2022 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, but it is best for you only if you want the lowest-cost way into Wrangler ownership and are comfortable adding equipment later.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it is the reference point for a more usable daily setup, and it pairs well with available convenience, safety, and tech packages.
• Sahara: Choose this if you want a more comfort-oriented Wrangler with a broader mix of available equipment and a more upscale feel.
• Rubicon: Pick this if off-road capability is your priority, since it is the trim most clearly aimed at serious trail use.

The Safety Group and Advanced Safety Group are worthwhile upgrades if you want more driver assistance, because those features are not standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find decent opportunities.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 816 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.11% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $36,080 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $36,080 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,138 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Wrangler has become a little easier to buy than it was a year ago, which can help future sellers if demand stays steady. Because the model still has strong enthusiast appeal and a distinctive identity, well-kept examples should continue to attract attention. The market is also helped by the fact that buyers who want this kind of vehicle often shop with a clear purpose rather than purely on price. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.93/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The Jeep Wrangler earns a three-star rating for rollover resistance from NHTSA, and it gets Marginal ratings in IIHS small overlap and side-impact testing, with Poor headlight performance for the standard lamps and Marginal for the LED upgrades.

It earns a 2/10 safety score from our experts.

The Safety Group adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. The Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beam headlights. Those systems are helpful, but they are optional rather than standard. The main caveat is that the Wrangler’s crash-test results are a weak point, so you should not buy one expecting class-leading protection.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.93/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new air filtration system and a standard 4.88 axle ratio on V6 Rubicons.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $38,864 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $36,080 CAD average.
• It keeps the Wrangler formula but adds more detail on trim-specific equipment gaps.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2022 is the smarter starting point because pricing has eased and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2023 is the better secondary path.
