What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Laredo is well equipped, but the higher trims add the more luxurious touches that make this SUV feel premium, including real wood, aluminum, Palermo leather seating, a faux-suede roof, larger wheels, more chrome, and richer interior presentation. If you want the strongest value, look closely at the trims that balance equipment with price rather than jumping straight to the top end.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 or a 5.7-litre V8, both paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The V6 is the efficiency play, while the V8 brings stronger output and a more satisfying sound, but it is available only on higher trims.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear parking sensors. Active Driving Assist is available on upper trims, while some features such as automatic parking, intersection collision assist, driver attention monitor, traffic sign recognition, and four-zone climate control come standard on Summit trims and are optional on others.
• Infotainment: Upper trims can bring dual high-resolution screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two-phone connectivity, and available navigation that can take over the instrument panel. The system can also support a head-up display and a crystal-clear 360-degree camera system on better-equipped versions.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is rated at 13.0 L/100 km in the city, 9.4 on the highway, and 11.3 combined. The V8 is rated at 16.7 L/100 km city, 10.9 highway, and 14.1 combined.

Which 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is offered in 4 trim levels: Laredo, Overland, Summit, Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Grand Cherokee L experience without pushing the price too far. It makes sense if you want the three-row layout and standard equipment, but you do not need the most luxurious cabin or the strongest feature set.
• Overland: This is the trim to watch if you want the best blend of capability and value. It is the only trim that can be paired with the Off-Road Group package and all-terrain tyres, and it is also where the V8 becomes available.
• Summit: This is the step-up choice if you want more luxury and convenience features, including automatic parking, intersection collision assist, driver attention monitor, traffic sign recognition, and four-zone climate control.
• Summit Reserve: This is the most lavish version, with the richest interior presentation and the 19-speaker McIntosh audio system. It suits you if you want the most premium Grand Cherokee L experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety-package note to keep in mind is that the standard driver-assistance suite is broad, but some advanced features are reserved for upper trims or optional packages.

• Inventory: There are 236 listings available.

What is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L's resale value?

The current average of $36,837 CAD sits slightly below last year's $46,454 CAD.

That drop suggests future sellers may face more price pressure than owners did a year ago. If you buy now, you are entering the market after a meaningful correction, which can help reduce the risk of overpaying. For resale, the strongest versions should hold up better if they combine desirable equipment, strong condition, and broad buyer appeal.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L safe?

If you want the most advanced driver-assistance setup, you will need to shop carefully by trim.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.70% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It offers a more premium, luxury-leaning feel with strong technology and a composed driving experience.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $40,687 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $36,837 CAD average.
• It brings higher prices and newer competitors.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and inventory is available. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2023 is the secondary path, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2022 and shop selectively for the best-equipped example.
