Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Safety.

You get a strong mix of smooth, quiet driving, impressive fuel economy, and a wealth of high-end features. It also stands out as a practical choice for small families, while still feeling polished and more engaging than a typical everyday utility vehicle. For shoppers who want day-to-day usefulness without giving up refinement, that combination is a major part of the appeal.

The market also shows 29.9% good and great deals, which gives you some room to find a competitive listing.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers consistently describe it as smooth, quiet, and impressive on fuel economy, while also praising its high-end features and strong value. The hybrid powertrain and refined road manners add to the sense that this is a vehicle you can count on for regular commuting and family use.

The expert assessment also points to a polished suspension and balanced handling, which supports the impression of dependable everyday use. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about mechanical drama and more about finding the right configuration and condition, since some shoppers note limited availability in preferred trims.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lower trims use 17-inch alloy wheels, while higher grades move to 19-inch wheels and add features such as a hands-free smart liftgate, a 10.25-inch digital driver information display, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, and memory for the driver’s seat. The base trim is more basic, so the Preferred and above are the ones to compare closely if you want a more complete feature set.
• Powertrain: The hybrid uses a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for a combined 226 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It is noticeably quicker than the gas model and pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, cyclist detection, a driver-attention monitor, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, and rear occupant alert. The Preferred trim adds blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and safe-exit warning, while the Ultimate adds a surround-view monitor, highway-driving assist, navigation, blind-spot view monitor, and remote smart park assist.
• Infotainment: Lower grades get an 8-inch screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while the 10.25-inch screen in higher trims requires a wired connection for phone projection. The larger screen looks good, but the touch-capacitive controls can be frustrating to use.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada lists the Tucson Hybrid at 6.3 L/100 km in the city, 6.6 L/100 km on the highway, and 6.4 L/100 km combined.

Which 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid is offered in 3 trim levels: Luxury, Ultimate, and Preferred.

Here's the short version:

• Luxury: This is the entry point to the hybrid lineup and the best-value choice if you want the hybrid powertrain without stretching too far on price. It gives you the core hybrid experience and is the most compelling starting point for shoppers focused on value.
• Preferred: This is the trim to target if you want the strongest balance of equipment and price. It adds important convenience and safety upgrades, including blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, safe-exit warning, an eight-way power driver seat, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, a proximity key, and wireless device charging with the Trend Package.
• Ultimate: This is the most feature-rich version, adding the 10.25-inch digital driver information display, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a surround-view monitor, highway-driving assist, navigation, blind-spot view monitor, and remote smart park assist. It suits you best if you want the most technology and convenience.

The safety package steps up meaningfully as you move from the lower trims to the Preferred and Ultimate, so those are the versions worth prioritising if advanced driver assistance matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 137 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.13% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $26,874 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $27,354 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,855 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you buy now, because you may be entering at a lower point in the market. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice rather than on broad market momentum alone.

The good news is that strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it is time to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 stands out for its brand-new design, refined suspension, and hybrid powertrain that delivers both strong performance and good fuel economy.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest design, the strongest blend of refinement and efficiency, and a model year that already shows softer pricing, the 2022 is the one to focus on. If you are more price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully within this year’s inventory and look for a well-priced listing near the low end of the range.
