Is the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers highlighting the Malibu’s smooth ride and fuel economy alongside its everyday convenience. That kind of positive feedback suggests you can count on it for regular commuting and family use, especially if you want a trouble-free used sedan with a practical reputation.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car has been maintained properly, since condition and service history matter more as the vehicle ages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 176 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.24% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,415 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $20,318 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,890 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has softened enough to be attractive to used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy at the right number now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. The model’s value-focused reputation and broad appeal should help support demand, especially among shoppers looking for a roomy, practical sedan.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2022 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a roomy, value-oriented midsize sedan with strong owner approval and a market that currently favours careful shoppers. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2022 is the better pick when you want a good mix of satisfaction, features, and current pricing.
