Used 2022 BMW 3 Series for Sale nearNewmarket, ON

How much does the 2022 BMW 3 Series cost?

Prices have softened 16.45% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 166 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 BMW 3 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2022 BMW 3 Series earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its sporty performance, great handling, stylish design, fuel efficiency, and quick acceleration. That lines up with the 3 Series’ role as a luxury sports sedan that still feels like a benchmark for buyers who want a restrained look with a genuinely engaging drive.

With its evolutionary design and minor 2022 equipment updates, it suits you if you want a polished, driver-focused sedan rather than a flashy redesign. The market also shows 30.7% of listings as good or great deals, which is a healthy sign of value opportunities.

Is the 2022 BMW 3 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with many drivers describing it as sporty, efficient, and enjoyable over time. That said, some owners mention oil leak issues and high maintenance costs, so you should go in expecting premium-brand ownership expenses rather than bargain-level running costs.

BMW’s performance tuning and strong road manners support the impression of a well-engineered sedan that you can count on for enthusiastic driving. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that maintenance and repair bills can add up if the car has not been cared for properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 3 Series?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes the 330i, 330e, M340i, M3, and M3 Competition. The 330i and 330e are the more accessible choices, while the M340i adds a more serious performance focus with 19-inch wheels, Shadowline trim, blue brake calipers, and a standard M Performance exterior treatment. The M340i is the best-value pick if you want the strongest blend of performance and everyday usability.
• Powertrain: The 330i xDrive sedan and 330e use a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while the 330e adds plug-in hybrid technology with 32 kilometres of estimated electric driving range. The M340i uses a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive is standard on this and every 3 Series except the M3 and the plug-in hybrid.
• Safety package: Active Guard includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, city-speed automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning. Traffic Jam Assistant, with adaptive cruise control and lane-centring assist, is available, and Emergency Stop Assistant can bring the car to a safe stop if the driver becomes unresponsive. Some of these features are not standard on every used example.
• Infotainment: Digital Cockpit Professional adds a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and navigation. Every 3 Series has Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, and a 10-speaker HiFi sound system, while Connected Package Pro and BMW’s Intelligent Personal Assistant are standard. A 16-speaker Harman Kardon system is available.
• Fuel efficiency: The M340i returned 9.4 L/100 km on the evaluation route, versus an official combined rating of 9.2 L/100 km.

Which 2022 BMW 3 Series trim should I buy?

The 2022 BMW 3 Series is offered in 5 trim levels: 330i, 330e, M340i, M3, and M3 Competition.

Here's the short version:

• 330i: This is the entry point if you want the 3 Series experience with the least complexity. It gives you the core luxury-sport sedan formula without stepping into the higher-performance or higher-cost trims.
• 330e: Choose this if you want plug-in hybrid capability and the estimated 32-kilometre electric driving range. It also qualifies for incentives, which can improve the value equation if you can use the electric side of the powertrain.
• M340i: This is the sweet spot for most shoppers. It adds the turbocharged inline-six, stronger performance, standard xDrive, M Sport hardware, and the most compelling balance of speed and everyday polish.
• M3: Pick this if you want the most serious performance focus in the lineup and are willing to pay for it.
• M3 Competition: This is the top performance choice for buyers who want the most aggressive version of the standard gas lineup.

Only models equipped with the optional adaptive LED headlights with Laserlight qualify for the Top Safety Pick rating.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 3 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile examples.

• Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 166 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.45% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,974 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 BMW 3 Series's resale value?

The current average of $34,974 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,862 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car more attractive to used buyers today. For a future seller, it means you may need to price competitively if you want to move the car quickly.

The 3 Series still benefits from strong brand appeal and a reputation for driving enjoyment, which helps support demand. But premium maintenance costs and owner concerns about oil leaks can weigh on resale if service history is weak.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 BMW 3 Series safe?

The 2022 BMW 3 Series earns a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it earns five-star ratings across the board from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), including for rollover resistance.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW’s standard safety tech package includes Active Guard, which brings forward-collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, city-speed automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning. Available Traffic Jam Assistant adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centring assist, while Emergency Stop Assistant can detect an unresponsive driver and bring the car to a safe stop while placing an SOS call.

One caveat is that the Top Safety Pick rating depends on the optional adaptive LED headlights with Laserlight, so not every used example qualifies. The standard safety equipment is also relatively sparse compared with some rivals, so you should verify which driver-assistance features are fitted on the specific car you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.45% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• BMW’s 2022 updates are minor, keeping the core formula intact while broadening the lineup with plug-in hybrid and performance-tuned models.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $40,148 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $34,974 CAD average.
• It brings sleeker styling and an updated driver-oriented cockpit.

The bottom line: If you want the better value proposition, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it delivers the core 3 Series experience at a lower average price. If you care more about newer styling and updated tech, the 2023 is worth the extra spend, but price-sensitive buyers should stay focused on the 2022.
