CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Audi Q5

Summary
With 361 currently listed for sale and an average price of $30,467 CAD, 29.9% of 2022 Audi Q5 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Audi Q5 5 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Audi Q5 stands out as a luxury compact SUV that puts comfort, quality, and standard all-wheel drive at the centre of its appeal. It has the look and feel of a premium product, with a spacious interior and a large trunk, and even the entry-level version comes well equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, heated front seats, rain-sensing wipers, and cruise control. That combination makes it easy to see why the Q5 has long been considered a practical choice for buyers who want an upscale SUV without giving up everyday usability.
For 2022, the Q5 sits in the second generation, which brought a more refined package with few major weak spots. The range included the updated 2.0T engine with 252 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, paired with a seven-speed S tronic automatic transmission and a new quattro all-wheel-drive system that helped deliver a combined fuel consumption figure of 9.6 L/100 km. The high-performance SQ5 was also available, using a turbo 3.0-litre engine with 354 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Buyers could also get the plug-in hybrid Q5 TFSI e, which combined a 2.0-litre engine with an electric motor for 362 horsepower and an estimated pure electric range of between 31 and 39 kilometres, depending on the model year.
There are a few trade-offs to keep in mind. The Q5 is not as much fun to drive as some midsize SUVs, and some models are rather expensive. Still, for shoppers who value a smooth ride, a high-quality cabin, and a long list of standard equipment, the 2022 Audi Q5 remains an appealing and well-rounded luxury SUV.

Reviewed a 2022 Audi quattro Premium S Line 45 TFSI on May 2, 2025
I searched for a lot of vehicle wanting either four wheel or all wheel drive. I found the Audi Q5 premium plus S line 45 TFSI, checked all my boxes. The four cylinder turbo engine has enough go in it to make driving fun, although it can feel a little under powered. I purchased the vehicle to take out my Passat TDI SE. When I was searching for vehicles to upgrade from, most did not have the features or amenities to match my 2015 Passat without spending 50,000 or more. I purchased a 2022 model year of the Q5 and it tops the charts with amenities and being an actual fun vehicle to drive. After taxes and fees the vehicle cost me just over 35,000. The Q5 premium plus 45 TFSI, features, a nice infotainment set up, three drive modes, heated seats and wheel, with a 3 zone climate control, leather seats, and decent trunk space. The tight handling and connection from the peddle to road make you feel like you can actually drive the vehicle. Only downside are the backseat is a little small, the engine does lack some power compared to a SQ5, and the Audi connect set up is also just so so. Overall I love this vehicle. This was my first Audi purchase and I couldn't be happier. I am looking forward to throwing miles on this vehicle before jumping into an SQ5 next.

This car is amazing, was able to pick up a low mileage 2022 Prestige in 2024 for an amazing price! Original MSRP was 60K+ which seems overpriced... but the tech, the comfort, the ride, and the 0-60 in 5.5 seconds is a wonderful thing! Fully recommend this car.... NO REGRETS!

How much does the 2022 Audi Q5 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $30,434 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $30,434 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $37,150 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $37,150 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −18.08% |
Prices have softened 18.08% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 361 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2022 Audi Q5 a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Audi Q5 earns a 5/5 user rating, which supports its appeal as a luxury compact SUV. It stands out for comfort, quality, standard all-wheel drive, a spacious interior, and a large trunk, while even the entry-level version comes well equipped with features like leather upholstery, heated front seats, rain-sensing wipers, and cruise control. If you want an upscale SUV that still works well for everyday use, this model year fits that brief. Good and great deals make up 31.0% of listings, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.
Is the 2022 Audi Q5 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2022 Q5 is described as a refined second-generation model with few major weak spots, which is encouraging if you want a used luxury SUV that feels settled and well sorted. Its smooth ride, high-quality cabin, and standard equipment help reinforce that impression. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is paying too much for a premium vehicle that can still carry higher running costs than mainstream alternatives.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Audi Q5?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be patient and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 361 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 18.08% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $30,434 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Audi Q5's resale value?
The current average of $30,434 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,150 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Q5 easier to buy now but may also limit near-term upside for a future seller. If you purchase at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking an immediate depreciation hit. The model's premium image and practical appeal should still help it remain broadly desirable in the used market.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2022 Audi Q5 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 18.08% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $27,718 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $30,434 CAD average.
- It stands out for its electrified plug-in hybrid option.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $34,964 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $30,434 CAD average.
- It adds a sporty yet comfortable feel with more technology.
The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around choice if you want a well-equipped luxury SUV with strong owner satisfaction and better pricing than the 2023. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better secondary path, especially if its plug-in hybrid angle matters to you.
