Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Volkswagen Jetta?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 227 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.14% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,304 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Volkswagen Jetta's resale value?

The current average of $19,304 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,971 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more attractive entry point, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations if the market stays competitive. A lower current average can support demand from value-minded shoppers, especially when the car is still seen as well equipped and efficient. Strong owner satisfaction can also help keep interest steady when it comes time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Volkswagen Jetta safe?

The 2021 Volkswagen Jetta scores Good in all IIHS crash testing, and earns a five-star safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Jetta comes with front and side airbags, a reversing camera, a tire pressure monitoring system, and automatic post-collision braking. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on the Highline grade, while the Execline adds automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams.

A key caveat is that its headlights range from Marginal to Poor depending on the grade, which keeps it from earning a Top Safety Pick recommendation.

Should I buy a 2021 Volkswagen Jetta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.14% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It blends an upscale interior, refined ride, and efficient powertrain.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $21,703 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $19,304 CAD average.
• It brings a mild refresh with upgraded technology and more standard features.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the better pick if you want the strongest value and a well-rounded used-sedan package. If you can stretch for the 2022, you get a fresher-feeling update, but price-sensitive buyers should find the 2021 easier to justify.
