What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The entry-level GLC 300 includes 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a power liftgate, synthetic leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, dual USB ports, a fully digital instrument panel, and the MBUX infotainment system. It is the trim that gives you the core GLC experience, while higher trims add more performance and equipment.

Which 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC is offered in 4 trim levels: GLC 300, AMG GLC 43, AMG GLC 63, and AMG GLC 63 S.

Here's the short version:

• GLC 300: This is the best-value choice if you want the core GLC formula without paying for performance upgrades. It brings the standard luxury features, the efficient base powertrain, and the polished ride and cabin that define the model.
• AMG GLC 43: Choose this if you want a stronger performance focus, since it adds a more potent powertrain along with 20-inch wheels, adaptive air suspension, and sport seats.
• AMG GLC 63: This is the top step for buyers who want the most aggressive factory setup, with the same performance-oriented upgrades as the 43 plus the extra rear-seat package that adds heated rear outboard seats, three-zone automatic climate control, and rear side window sunshades.
• AMG GLC 63 S: Pick this only if you want the most powerful version and are willing to pay for it; it sits at the top of the range with the most extreme performance character.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 329 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.91% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,470 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC's resale value?

The current average of $34,727 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,811 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. A softer market often means future sellers need to be more competitive on asking price, especially if similar listings remain plentiful.

Even so, the GLC’s strong owner satisfaction and premium image should help it stay desirable with shoppers looking for a compact luxury SUV. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment and clean history should hold buyer interest better than stripped or neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC safe?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

To equip the GLC with its best safety tech, such as automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, dynamic cruise control, and lane departure warning, Canadians need to purchase the $2,700 Intelligent Drive Package. Parking sensors and hands-free parking assist are part of the Premium Plus Package.

We found the parking and proximity sensors to be overly sensitive, which can be distracting in tight traffic situations. That means you should pay close attention to which packages are fitted on any used example you consider.

Should I buy a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 stands out for its upscale cabin, advanced infotainment, and balanced driving character.

The bottom line: The 2021 GLC is a strong choice if you want the model’s polished interior, smooth ride, and well-rounded luxury feel at a more favourable price than it carried a year ago. If you are shopping carefully and want the best value, this year looks especially appealing; if you are more price-sensitive, focus on listings near the lower end of the range and prioritise the right equipment package.
