Is the 2021 Kia Sportage a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Kia Sportage earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its power, smooth ride, and broad feature set, and many also value the available AWD for added confidence in changing weather. That makes it a sensible fit if you want a comfortable, well-equipped compact SUV for everyday use, especially if you prioritise features and ride quality over maximum cargo space or top-tier fuel efficiency. What is the 2021 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $18,982 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,378 CAD.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favourable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale expectations should be set with the current softer pricing in mind. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned to limit depreciation pressure later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $21,457 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $18,982 CAD average.
• It adds a more modern trim mix and available turbocharged performance.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2021 if you want the better value and are comfortable with its comfort-first character. Consider the 2022 if you’re willing to pay more for a newer-feeling package and broader feature appeal, but price-sensitive buyers will likely find the 2021 the smarter buy.
