How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe cost?

Prices have softened 18.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 66 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe earns a 4.78/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, modern design, advanced technology, comfortable ride, and reliability. That lines up with the Tahoe’s role as a full-size SUV for buyers who want three-row space, strong utility, and a more polished overall package than before.

The model also stands out because Chevrolet redesigned it to address key shortcomings in interior comfort and cargo space while improving driving dynamics and technology. For you, that means a more complete big-SUV option if you need room, capability, and a premium-feeling cabin.

Good and great deals account for 33.3% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to reliability, a dependable feel, and a vehicle that many owners feel comfortable living with over time. That matters in a large SUV, where you want confidence that the vehicle will keep doing family-duty work without drama.

The expert review also describes the Tahoe as more cost-effective among like-sized SUVs than before, especially now that Chevrolet has improved the package. The available diesel engine is also described as promising a significant improvement in fuel efficiency, which can help reduce day-to-day ownership strain if you choose that powertrain.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a large, highly equipped SUV can become expensive to own if you buy one that was poorly maintained or loaded with options you do not need.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tahoe LS and LT are the core starting points, while the RST adds a sportier look, the Z71 brings a rugged appearance and off-road-oriented hardware, the Premier adds more luxury touches, and the High Country is the most upscale version. Base models are the most likely to feel feature-light, especially compared with higher trims that add more comfort and convenience equipment.
• Powertrain: You can shop a 5.3-litre V8, a 6.2-litre V8 on High Country, or a turbocharged 3.0-litre diesel inline six-cylinder on most trims except the Z71. The diesel is the efficiency play, while the V8s deliver the familiar Tahoe character and strong towing ability.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes Teen Driver, a rear-seat reminder system, forward collision alert with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. Higher trims or options can add lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear pedestrian detection, while Premier and High Country can add adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, a Safety Alert Seat, and an upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is a 10.2-inch touchscreen with over-the-air update capability, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. You also get voice recognition and Chevrolet Connected Services, while navigation and premium Bose audio are available upgrades.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo-diesel is described as improving combined fuel consumption by roughly 3.5 litres per 100 kilometres compared with the gasoline setup. The official Natural Resources Canada estimate for a Tahoe 4WD is 13.5 L/100 km in combined driving, and the test vehicle returned 14.3 L/100 km.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Tahoe basics with cloth seats and the standard technology and safety equipment. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable keeping the feature set simple.
• LT: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds leather seating and a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the luxury trims. If you want the Tahoe experience with fewer compromises, this is the trim to focus on first.
• RST: Choose this if you want the sportier appearance package, including the blacked-out look, slotted grille, and 22-inch wheels.
• Z71: This is the right pick if you want the rugged trim with the off-road-oriented front end, skid plate, tow hooks, all-terrain tires, and hill descent control.
• Premier: Step up here if you want a more luxurious cabin with perforated leather and access to more advanced safety features.
• High Country: This is the top luxury trim, with the 6.2-litre V8, the most upscale interior materials, and the richest exterior treatment.

Higher trims also unlock more advanced safety equipment, including adaptive cruise control and the upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 66 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.53% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $48,772 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe's resale value?

The current average of $48,772 CAD sits slightly below last year's $59,865 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can be good news if you are buying now but less favourable if you are planning to sell soon. A softer market usually means future resale values may stay under pressure unless demand strengthens.

Even so, the Tahoe’s strong owner satisfaction helps support long-term appeal. Buyers in the used market tend to respond well to vehicles that are known for spaciousness, comfort, and reliability, and that can help keep demand steadier than you might expect for a large SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe safe?

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes standard with Teen Driver, a rear-seat reminder system, forward collision alert with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. You also get OnStar Safety & Security capability, including automatic collision notification and SOS emergency calling.

If you move up the trim ladder or add options, you can get lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear pedestrian detection. Premier and High Country trims add adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, a Safety Alert Seat, and an upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage.

One caveat is that the Tahoe had not yet been crash tested by NHTSA or IIHS when this review was published.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 redesign is the key turning point, because it brings major gains in interior comfort, cargo space, driving dynamics, technology, and innovation.

The bottom line: If you want the most important redesign-era Tahoe, the 2021 is the one to target because it meaningfully improves the package without losing the model’s core strengths. If your priority is simply the lowest purchase price, a nearby older year may cost less, but you give up the big improvements that make this generation more appealing.
