What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Cadillac Escalade?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Luxury trim is decently equipped but offers little in the way of upgrades, while Premium Luxury and Sport add more of the features most buyers will want. Platinum models bring the most upscale cabin materials and the richest equipment mix.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a standard 6.2-litre V8 and an available 3.0-litre turbo-diesel inline six-cylinder. The V8 is the more common choice, while the diesel is the efficiency-focused option and delivers strong torque.
• Safety package: Every Escalade gets forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking below 80 km/h, front and rear pedestrian detection, Teen Driver, parking assist sensors, a surround-view camera, and a rear-seat reminder. Premium Luxury and Sport add blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance, while the Driver Assist Tech Package adds higher-speed forward emergency braking, rear emergency braking, automatic seatbelt tightening, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The Escalade uses a 38-inch curved OLED display setup, with a 14.2-inch instrumentation screen and a 16.9-inch touch-sensing infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system includes AR navigation and OTA-style modern connectivity features.
• Fuel efficiency: The V8 is rated at 14.8 L/100 km in combined driving, while the turbo-diesel is rated at 10.6 L/100 km combined.

Which 2021 Cadillac Escalade trim should I buy?

The 2021 Cadillac Escalade is offered in 4 trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport, Premium Luxury Platinum, and Sport Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• Luxury: This is the entry point, but it is the least compelling choice if you want the Escalade experience at its best. It gets the basics, yet the source makes clear that most buyers will want to move up.
• Premium Luxury: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the richer equipment and upscale feel most buyers expect from an Escalade. It also suits you well if you want the strongest balance of luxury, technology, and everyday usability.
• Sport: Choose this if you prefer the blacked-out look and want the same general upscale character with a more aggressive appearance.
• Premium Luxury Platinum: This is the trim to target if you want maximum luxury, with the most premium cabin materials and the most complete upscale presentation.
• Sport Platinum: Pick this if you want the top-end equipment and the Sport trim’s darker styling together in one package.

Premium Luxury and Sport are the trims that add the key safety upgrades, while the Driver Assist Tech Package is the notable extra safety add-on.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Cadillac Escalade?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around but not so much that bargains are guaranteed.

• Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 53 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.97% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $76,106 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Cadillac Escalade's resale value?

The current average of $76,174 CAD sits slightly below last year's $83,679 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the Escalade easier to buy now than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, trim, and equipment rather than assuming the model will hold its price unchanged. Well-equipped examples with strong presentation should still attract attention, especially given the model’s luxury positioning and broad appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Cadillac Escalade safe?

The 2021 Cadillac Escalade earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Cadillac equips every Escalade with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking below 80 km/h, front and rear pedestrian detection, Teen Driver, front and rear parking assist sensors, a surround-view camera system, and a rear-seat reminder. Premium Luxury and Sport trims add blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance, while the Driver Assist Tech Package adds higher-speed forward emergency braking, rear emergency braking, automatic seatbelt tightening, and adaptive cruise control.

A key caveat is that the test vehicle experienced false alerts and one false braking event during the road test, so you should pay attention to how any used example’s driver-assistance systems behave.

Should I buy a 2021 Cadillac Escalade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings major gains in technology, cabin quality, and overall refinement.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $80,976 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $76,174 CAD average.
• It adds Buckle to Drive and standard lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning on the base trim.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the better buy if you want the redesigned Escalade at a lower average price and with strong owner approval. If you are price-sensitive, the 2021 gives you the core redesign benefits without paying the higher average asking price of the 2022.

How does the 2021 Cadillac Escalade compare to the 2021 Lincoln Navigator?

Our experts score the 2021 Cadillac Escalade 8.2/10 and the 2021 Lincoln Navigator 7.7/10. The Escalade is the more tech-forward and visually dramatic SUV, while the Navigator brings a stronger horsepower figure and a lower average used price. If you want the more modern-feeling cabin and a stronger luxury presence, the Cadillac has the edge; if value matters more, the Lincoln is the easier one to justify.
