Is the 2021 BMW X3 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 BMW X3 earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfort, smooth ride, and strong performance, and many also highlight the incredibly comfortable seats. It also fits well if you want a compact luxury SUV with a high-quality cabin, premium materials, and a sporty driving feel that still works for everyday family use. Is the 2021 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable ownership experience, with repeated praise for comfort, smoothness, and strong performance. That kind of positive long-term sentiment matters when you are shopping used, because it often reflects a vehicle that owners feel confident living with over time. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about day-to-day satisfaction and more about the higher maintenance and repair costs that can come with premium vehicles.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 BMW X3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 170 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.31% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,159 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $30,991 CAD sits slightly below last year's $35,747 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the X3 more attractive to used buyers today. For a future seller, it also means there may be less room for appreciation unless demand strengthens. Even so, a model with strong owner satisfaction can hold buyer interest better than one with mixed feedback. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $34,448 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $30,991 CAD average.
• The 2022 adds a mid-cycle refresh with new engines, more technology, and expanded safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2021 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction. If you are willing to pay more for updated styling, added technology, and a broader safety package, the 2022 is the better upgrade path.
