This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 347 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.77% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $16,893 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Volkswagen Jetta's resale value?

The current average of $17,109 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,311 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, the current trend suggests you should focus on condition, mileage, and service history to protect value. A well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers looking for a practical, well-equipped compact sedan.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Volkswagen Jetta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,429 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $17,109 CAD average.
• It adds a more polished feel and a more rewarding driving experience.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2020 if you want the better value and are shopping with price discipline. If you can stretch your budget, the 2021 is the better pick for buyers who want a more refined overall experience and are willing to pay more for it.
