Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Volkswagen Jetta?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 341 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.93% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $16,889 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Volkswagen Jetta's resale value?

The current average of $16,966 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,180 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car easier to buy now but may limit upside for a future seller. If you purchase at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it comes time to resell. Demand should remain supported by the model’s practical appeal and broad owner approval.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Volkswagen Jetta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.93% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,480 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $16,966 CAD average.
• It brings back a more upscale feel and a more rewarding driving experience.

The bottom line: Choose the 2020 if you want the better value and are shopping with price discipline. If you can stretch your budget and want a more polished driving feel, the 2021 is the stronger upgrade path.
