Surprising... both good and bad. Starting off this car has a ton of features like a heads up display, JBL sound, and a giant touch screen. On the surface all this is pretty cool, but in practice the infotainment system is really awkward and difficult to use. It makes poor use of the space. Generally this Prius has less storage space than our Previous generation of Prius. The good surprises came from unexpected places. The speed and acceleration were much improved. It feels quick and it has a much more quiet ride. They did a good job on insulation . Overall it feels like a good car but quirky.

Is the 2020 Toyota Prius Prime a good car?
Generally — the 2020 Toyota Prius Prime earns a 4/5 user rating, which points to solid overall owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its efficient performance, impressive hybrid technology, and useful features like adaptive cruise control. The main trade-offs mentioned are the infotainment system’s learning curve and limited cargo space. With 31.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2020 Toyota Prius Prime reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, especially for drivers who value efficient hybrid operation and a car they can count on over time. The main caution for used buyers is to make sure the vehicle’s condition and maintenance history support that long-term reliability story.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Toyota Prius Prime?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to shop with a clear target price and compare listings closely.
- Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 51 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.68% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $22,367 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Toyota Prius Prime's resale value?
The current average of $23,065 CAD sits slightly below last year's $24,984 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can make the car more attractive to you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. If you buy at the right price now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation later.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2020 Toyota Prius Prime or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.68% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2020 is a sensible choice if you want a used Prius Prime with a lower average price than last year and enough inventory to shop selectively. If your priority is stretching your budget further, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the listings that land in the lower end of the current price range.
