Used 2020 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearWindsor, ON

How much does the 2020 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 6.89% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 151 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Toyota 4Runner earns a 4.85/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise its ruggedness, reliability, and value retention, and many also like its comfort, safety features, and off-road capability. The trade-offs are clear: it is not especially refined, and some owners want more modern features and a better interior design.

That fits the 4Runner’s role as a rugged SUV for you if durability and capability matter more than polish. With 35.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.85/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights reliability, ruggedness, and value retention, which are all encouraging signs if you want something you can count on over time. The expert assessment also points to the engine’s longevity as a strength, and the model’s tough, body-on-frame construction supports that dependable character.

Toyota’s ownership proposition is helped by the fact that this SUV is built for durability rather than complexity. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is accepting age-related wear and the compromises that come with an older, truck-based design.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Toyota 4Runner?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup is based on the SR5 with five packages available instead of trim levels: TRD Off-Road, Venture, TRD Pro, Limited and the Nightshade special edition. Lower trims come standard with cloth, while the Limited package adds leather upholstery and a more comfort-focused feel. The Venture and Nightshade packages add a stealth aesthetic with blacked-out trim pieces, and the Venture also adds 17-inch TRD wheels, roof rack crossbars, and side steps.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 4-litre V6 with a five-speed automatic transmission. It is tuned for durability and off-road use rather than smoothness or efficiency, and it can tow up to 2,268 kilograms.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, and automatic high beams. All versions also come with eight standard airbags.
• Infotainment: You get an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Bluetooth is included, and SR5 and TRD Off-Road models have a single USB port.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel consumption at 14.8 L/100 km in the city, 12.5 L/100 km on the highway, and 13.8 L/100 km combined.

Which 2020 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2020 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 5 trim levels: TRD Off-Road, Venture, TRD Pro, Limited and Nightshade.

Here's the short version:

• TRD Off-Road: This is the trim to focus on if you want the core 4Runner experience with off-road capability and a more straightforward setup. It keeps the model’s rugged character intact without pushing you into the priciest packages.
• Venture: This is the best-value choice if you want extra off-road style and useful gear, including 17-inch TRD wheels, roof rack crossbars, and side steps.
• TRD Pro: Choose this if you want the most off-road-focused version in the lineup and are willing to pay for it.
• Limited: This is the comfort-first pick, with leather upholstery and a more upscale presentation for shoppers who care more about refinement than trail hardware.
• Nightshade: Pick this if you want the blacked-out appearance package and a more distinctive look.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Toyota 4Runner?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 151 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.89% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $42,527 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $44,783 CAD sits slightly below last year's $48,094 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also suggests future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices keep easing. The year-round range still shows meaningful spread, which means condition, trim, and equipment should matter a lot when you eventually resell. Strongly equipped examples should remain easier to move than rougher ones, especially if they are well maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.85/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2020 Toyota 4Runner earns Good scores from IIHS in all crash tests except the small overlap front: driver-side test, where it scored Marginal. It earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with three-star ratings in the rollover test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, and automatic high beams. The 4Runner also comes with eight standard airbags.

The main caveat is the Marginal IIHS result in the small overlap front test, which is worth keeping in mind if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2020 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.85/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds Toyota Safety Sense P and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $46,739 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $44,783 CAD average.
• It keeps the same rugged formula while reinforcing the model’s reliability and resale-value appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price and capability, the 2020 is the smarter buy. If you are willing to spend more for a newer example and you value the 4Runner’s core strengths above all else, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative.
