How much does the 2020 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 13.19% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,631 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 RAM 1500 earns a 4.75/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its luxurious feel, smooth ride, and spacious interior, and many describe it as a luxury truck. The user feedback also points to strong engine performance and a comfortable cabin for passengers.

The main trade-offs are that Bluetooth connectivity can be finicky and storage options may feel limited. For you, that means the 2020 RAM 1500 makes the most sense if you want a refined full-size pickup with a premium feel rather than a bare-bones work truck.

With 32.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still meaningful value in the market if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, with a smooth, comfortable character that many buyers seem happy to live with over time. The expert test drive also highlights the EcoDiesel’s improved power, efficiency, and delivery, which supports the sense that Ram put real work into the drivetrain’s long-term refinement.

The diesel and eTorque systems add complexity, so a used example is worth checking carefully for maintenance history and how it was equipped. For you, the safest bet is a truck with clear service records and the features you actually want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 RAM 1500?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tradesman starts with steel wheels, vinyl upholstery and flooring, a bench seat, a 5-inch touchscreen, a rear-view camera, heated side mirrors, and trailer-sway control. Big Horn adds fog lights, carpet, tinted windows, and access to upgrades like 20-inch wheels, air suspension, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable pedals, LEDs, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen. Laramie brings leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, parking sensors, and more tech, while Longhorn and Limited move further into luxury territory. If you want the best value, Big Horn is the trim to focus on.
• Powertrain: You can get a 3.6-litre V6 with eTorque, a 5.7-litre Hemi V8, or the 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V6. The V6 is the efficiency play, the V8 adds stronger output, and the EcoDiesel brings the most torque and the best towing-focused character.
• Safety package: The truck can be equipped with a driver-assistance suite that includes adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning and auto emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and a self-parking system with a 360-degree camera. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also available. Some of these features are limited to higher trims, so check equipment closely.
• Infotainment: The base setup uses a 5-inch touchscreen, while higher trims can get an 8.4-inch screen or a 12-inch tablet-style touchscreen. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available on the 8.4-inch system, and the larger screen is the tech highlight.
• Fuel efficiency: The 3.6-litre V6 with 4WD is rated at 12.2 L/100 km city, 9.7 highway, and 11.1 combined. The 3.0-litre EcoDiesel with 4WD is rated at 11.1 city, 8.0 highway, and 9.7 combined.

Which 2020 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2020 RAM 1500 is offered in 6 trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Longhorn, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the work-focused starting point, with the essentials covered and a low-frills cabin. It makes sense if you want capability first and plan to keep costs down.
• Big Horn: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it opens the door to the most useful upgrades, including the 8.4-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, air suspension, and more comfort features.
• Rebel: Choose this if you want the more aggressive off-road look and hardware, including lifted suspension, off-road tires, skid plates, tow hooks, and the diesel engine option.
• Laramie: This is the comfort-and-tech trim, adding leather, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, parking sensors, and a better stereo.
• Longhorn: Go here if you want a more upscale cabin with premium leather, wood trim, rear-seat comfort upgrades, navigation, and standard spray-in bed liner.
• Limited: This is the luxury-focused choice, with standard air suspension, premium leather, power-retractable side steps, and added safety equipment.

Safety equipment is not standard across the lineup, so verify the exact package on any used truck you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 RAM 1500?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, compare, and negotiate.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,631 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.19% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $31,396 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $31,396 CAD sits slightly below last year's $36,164 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out. If you’re planning to sell later, the current trend shows that values have already eased, so holding a well-equipped truck in strong condition matters more.

Trims with desirable equipment and clear service history should hold up better than stripped examples. Trucks that combine strong demand, good condition, and the right options are usually easier to move when it’s your turn to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2020 RAM 1500 earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick Plus designation from IIHS. It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The available driver-assistance suite includes adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning and auto emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and a self-parking system with a 360-degree camera. Parking sensors and forward-collision and lane-departure mitigation are limited to Laramie and above, so lower trims may leave you wanting more.

The main caveat is that the strongest IIHS result applies only to the Crew Cab with all active safety equipment and the optional LED lights. If safety is a priority, you’ll want to verify the exact configuration carefully.

Should I buy a 2020 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The EcoDiesel returns across the full trim range, giving you more engine choice.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $33,181 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $31,396 CAD average.
• It adds the TRX performance trim.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and broader diesel availability, the 2020 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to pay more for the 2021’s performance-focused TRX, that newer year is the one to chase. For most used-truck shoppers, though, the 2020 offers the stronger balance of price, equipment, and satisfaction.
