Is the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It stands out in the compact SUV class for offering third-row seating, giving you extra passenger flexibility that many rivals do not match. It also appeals if you want a practical, affordable used SUV, especially since gas-only examples typically cost less than equivalent Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4 models on the used market. The trade-off is that it has historically depreciated faster than its rivals, so value retention is not its strongest suit. Good and great deals make up 28.4% of listings, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2020 Outlander’s overview points to a vehicle that combines practical features with solid safety results from both NHTSA and IIHS. It also offers useful everyday equipment such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a split tailgate, which can make ownership feel more convenient. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the model’s lower purchase price comes with a history of faster depreciation than some rivals.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 81 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.78% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,673 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander's resale value?

The current average of $17,673 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,310 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Outlander has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the softer market means you may need to price competitively to stand out. The model’s practical features and strong safety results can help support demand, but its faster depreciation history remains an important factor.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.78% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version of this generation with the same practical third-row layout, the 2020 is the cleanest choice to focus on. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may be worth comparing, especially if you can find a lower-priced example with similar equipment and condition.
