Is the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It stands out in the compact SUV class because it offers third-row seating, giving you extra passenger flexibility that many rivals do not match. It also appeals if you want a practical used SUV with available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a split tailgate, and a relatively affordable entry point compared with some mainstream rivals. Is the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2020 Outlander’s appeal is tied to its practical layout, strong safety results, and straightforward family-friendly design. It also benefits from the generation’s mix of comfort and sporty handling, which can make it feel more settled in everyday driving than some shoppers expect. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the gas-only model’s powertrain can feel strained and less refined, so condition and maintenance history matter.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re patient and ready to move when the right listing appears.

• Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 74 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.86% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,647 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander's resale value?

The current average of $17,791 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,200 CAD.

That drop tells you the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favourable point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale values to remain sensitive to mileage, condition, and equipment. Because this model year offers practical features and broad family appeal, well-kept examples should still attract interest even in a softer pricing environment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version of this generation with the same practical third-row layout, the 2020 is the one to focus on. It makes sense as the primary choice if you value affordability, family flexibility, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby older year may be worth considering, especially if you can find a cleaner example at a lower asking price.
