Is the 2020 Kia Sportage a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Kia Sportage earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its spacious and luxurious-feeling interior, and many say it offers a lot of features for the price. That lines up well if you want a compact SUV that feels practical for everyday use and still gives you a comfortable ride. Is the 2020 Kia Sportage reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with the Sportage earning praise for being a vehicle people can count on. That said, used buyers should still focus on maintenance history and overall condition, since long-term ownership risk is always tied to how the vehicle was cared for.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Kia Sportage?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 270 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.36% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,923 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $18,068 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,098 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Sportage has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer market than owners saw a year ago. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned to limit depreciation later. The current inventory and deal mix also suggest buyers are still comparing value closely, which can influence resale strength over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.36% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 Kia Sportage makes the most sense if you want a comfortable compact SUV with a roomy cabin, strong owner approval, and a market that has become more favourable for buyers. If your priority is getting the best possible value, this year deserves a close look; if you are shopping strictly on price, you may also want to compare nearby model years and focus on the lowest-priced listings with solid condition and history.
