How much does the 2020 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices are up 4.11% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 165 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Ford Mustang earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its power, fun driving experience, and stylish looks, and they also like the comfort of the seats and the range of engine choices. The overview also points to strong value for money and a car that keeps the Mustang nameplate relevant as Ford shifts toward electrification.

The trade-offs are familiar: cargo space is limited, advanced safety features are not standard, and some reviewers felt the price was a bit high. The automatic transmission could also be smoother.

With the Mustang positioned as a nostalgic sports car that still fits Ford’s broader transition, it makes the most sense if you want image and driving enjoyment more than everyday practicality. 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which is a decent sign of market availability.

Is the 2020 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with buyers repeatedly highlighting its fun, trouble-free character and the confidence that comes from strong performance across different engine options. The expert review also frames it as a car that can deliver both daily-driving comfort and track-ready capability, which supports the sense that it is built to be used and enjoyed over the long term.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about outright reliability and more about finding an example that has been cared for properly, especially given the car’s performance focus and the possibility of harder use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Mustang?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Bullitt stands out with its Dark Highland Green look, subtle chrome accents, retro 19-inch wheels, unique interior stitching, and cue-ball shifter, while the standard GT Performance Package adds a more serious performance focus. Base-level cars are less richly equipped, and the review notes that some advanced safety features are not standard.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 310-horsepower turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder, a 460-horsepower 5.0-litre V8, and higher-output V8 variants, so you should match the engine to how you plan to use the car. The Bullitt adds 20 horsepower over a Mustang GT and is paired with a 6-speed manual.
• Safety package: The car includes a reversing camera and MyKey technology, while blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is available with the optional Electronics Package. Semi-autonomous safety features are notably limited.
• Infotainment: The Mustang uses a recessed 8-inch touchscreen with Sync 3, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and an available 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. The system is functional, but its age is starting to show.
• Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder EcoBoost returns 11.2 L/100 km in the city, 7.3 L/100 km on the highway, and 9.4 L/100 km combined. The Bullitt sits at 16.4/10.2/13.6 L/100 km.

Which 2020 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2020 Ford Mustang is offered in 1 trim level: Bullitt.

Here's the short version:

The Bullitt is the clear choice if you want the most distinctive styling and the strongest enthusiast character in this model year. It adds the special-edition look, extra power, and a more focused driving feel, making it the best fit if you care most about the Mustang’s heritage and personality.

The safety package note is simple: the car’s driver-assistance content is limited, and the optional Electronics Package is where you get blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Mustang?

You should treat this as a seller’s market and shop selectively.

• Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 165 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.11% year-over-year.

If you find a listing below $32,757 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $38,445 CAD sits slightly above last year's $36,929 CAD.

That upward movement suggests the market still places solid value on this model year. If you own one, the price trend is a positive sign because it indicates buyers are still willing to pay for the Mustang’s mix of style and performance.

The limited supply of good deals also helps support pricing, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Ford Mustang safe?

The Mustang gets good crash-test ratings, for the most part. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gives it the top rating of Good in most crashworthiness tests, with an Acceptable rating for driver protection in a small overlap frontal-impact collision. In testing performed by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Mustang gets five stars in every test, including for rollover resistance.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes a reversing camera, MyKey technology, and 911 Assist if your smartphone is paired and has a signal. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is available with the optional Electronics Package.

The main caveat is that the car does not lean heavily on advanced driver-assistance technology, so you should not expect the kind of semi-autonomous safety suite found in many newer vehicles.

Should I buy a 2020 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.11% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model captures Ford’s transition era while still delivering the Mustang Bullitt’s nostalgic style and strong performance.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $28,945 CAD, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $38,445 CAD average.
• It offers a special-edition Bullitt take with extra style, extra power, and strong owner appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year pricing context and a car that still feels special, the 2020 is the better target. If your priority is spending less, the 2019 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Bullitt’s core appeal.
