CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Dodge Challenger
overall

Summary
With 68 currently listed for sale and an average price of $34,545 CAD, 25.0% of 2020 Dodge Challenger listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Dodge Challenger 4.85 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Dodge Challenger stands out as one of the last remaining modern muscle cars, and it leans hard into that identity with retro styling and current automotive technology. It is also built in Canada at the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Canada facility in Brampton, Ont., and the model is largely unchanged for the 2020 model year. For buyers who want a coupe that feels distinctive rather than conventional, that combination of old-school character and modern usability is a major part of its appeal.
Its strengths are easy to understand: the Challenger offers a spacious interior, powerful engine choices, and easy-to-use technology. It is also described as fun to drive, which fits its performance-focused personality. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks. Advanced safety features are not standard, and its styling may be polarising, so it is best suited to shoppers who value character and performance over broad mainstream appeal.
For 2020, Dodge also added several new colours, some additional interior design choices, and a 50th Anniversary package for some trims. Those updates do not change the Challenger’s basic formula, but they do give this model year a bit more variety for buyers who want a muscle car with a strong visual presence and a few extra personalisation options.

I have to say the Dodge Challenger Widebody Scat Pack is an exciting car all around. It is a heavy, solid old school style MUSCLE CAR in all the good ways...spacious cabin with nice visibility, comfortable seats, all the very (easily) usable bells and whistles you could want and a huge trunk. Lots of engine gives it more than plenty of grunt and I am getting 18mpg all around driving. Solid build, great performance with no issues at all. I couldnt be happier with the value and how the car makes me feel. Very highly recommended!

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Dodge Challenger?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SXT starts with 18-inch aluminium wheels, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The GT adds 20-inch wheels, a hood scoop, remote start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, and unique houndstooth cloth seats. The R/T adds a V8 engine and performance upgrades, while the Scat Pack 392 adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and the larger 8.4-inch touchscreen. If you want the best value, the Scat Pack 392 is the strongest performance-for-the-dollar choice.
- Powertrain: The SXT and GT use a 3.6-litre V6 with 305 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque, with rear-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. The R/T uses a 5.7-litre Hemi V8, the Scat Pack 392 steps up to a 6.4-litre Hemi V8, and Hellcat models move to supercharged 6.2-litre V8 power. The Challenger’s performance range is a major part of its appeal, but fuel efficiency drops as you move up the ladder.
- Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, supplemental side curtain airbags, traction control, brake assist, and a child-seat anchoring system. The optional technology group adds forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path alert, and ParkSense reverse sensing are also optional, so you should check carefully for feature gaps on lower-spec examples.
- Infotainment: The standard 7-inch touchscreen includes Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The available Uconnect 8.4 adds a larger screen and Garmin-based navigation with real-time traffic updates. The system is easy to use, which is one of the Challenger’s strengths.
- Fuel efficiency: The base 3.6L Pentastar V6 with rear-wheel drive returns 12.4 L/100 km in city driving, 7.8 on the highway, and 10.3 combined. The V6 with AWD returns 12.8 city, 8.7 highway, and 11.0 combined. The most efficient V8 is the 5.7-litre in the R/T with the eight-speed automatic, at 14.7 city, 9.4 highway, and 12.3 combined.
Which 2020 Dodge Challenger trim should I buy?
The 2020 Dodge Challenger is offered in 9 trim levels: SXT, GT, R/T, Scat Pack 392, Scat Pack 392 Widebody, SRT Hellcat, SRT Hellcat Widebody, SRT Hellcat Redeye, and SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody.
Here's the short version:
- SXT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Challenger’s core style, a 7-inch touchscreen, and a usable feature set without pushing the price too high. It makes sense if you want the look and feel of the car first and foremost.
- GT: This trim adds more visual presence, remote start, paddle shifters, and a nicer steering wheel and seat treatment. It is a good fit if you want a more polished everyday version of the Challenger, especially if you value the available AWD setup.
- R/T: This is where the V8 experience begins, and it adds a stronger performance character along with an active exhaust system. It is the right choice if you want classic muscle-car feel without jumping to the highest price brackets.
- Scat Pack 392: This is the best-value performance trim, with the 6.4-litre Hemi V8, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and the larger 8.4-inch touchscreen. If you want the strongest mix of power and equipment for the money, this is the one to target.
- Scat Pack 392 Widebody: Choose this if you want the Scat Pack formula with broader fenders, wider tyres, and a wider track for a more aggressive stance and sharper cornering confidence.
- SRT Hellcat: This trim is for you if outright acceleration matters most, with supercharged V8 power and the kind of performance that pushes the Challenger into serious high-output territory.
- SRT Hellcat Widebody: This version adds the wider body and chassis stance to the Hellcat formula, making it the better pick if you want maximum performance hardware with a more planted feel.
- SRT Hellcat Redeye: This is the extreme-power choice, with even more output than the standard Hellcat and an automatic transmission only. It suits buyers who want the most dramatic straight-line performance.
- SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody: This is the range-topper, combining the Redeye’s extra power with the Widebody’s broader stance and more aggressive handling setup.
The optional technology group adds forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams, so check for it if safety equipment matters to you.

- Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 67 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 26.90% compared with last year.

What is the 2020 Dodge Challenger's resale value?
The current average of $34,547 CAD sits slightly below last year's $47,258 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face more competition if values continue to soften. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less downside than someone who paid closer to the previous year’s average. The Challenger’s broad appeal and strong enthusiast following can help support demand, but resale will still depend heavily on trim, condition, and mileage.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.85/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Dodge Challenger safe?

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety features include front- and side-impact airbags, supplemental side curtain airbags, traction control, brake assist, and a child-seat anchoring system. The optional technology group adds forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path alert, and ParkSense reverse sensing are also optional, so you should verify which systems are fitted on any used example you consider.
Should I buy a 2020 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 26.90% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.85/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2020 model year is largely unchanged, but it adds several new colours, some additional interior design choices, and a 50th Anniversary package for some trims.
The bottom line: If you want the Challenger’s classic muscle-car formula with modern usability, the 2020 is a strong choice. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may also be worth a look, but the 2020 stands out for its combination of value, strong owner satisfaction, and broad trim range.
