Great little SUV. Very economical to operate. Very peppy. Easy to park. Has numerous options. This is my second Encore. My next SUV will be another Encore.

Car features are great, except there’s no car starter for this vehicle, and there are no heated seats, which are great to have in the winter time. I really love my encore. It was a very good value with low mileage. But a car starter and heated seats are very necessary. It rides, very smooth, a slight step down from a Cadillac.

The Encore that we tried out was loaded with options and had some nice features. The car is missing a power hatch. I thought, why not put that on and then it would be loaded with options. I cannot compare it with a different model since that is the only car we tried. As far as value, I think it could be better.

How much does the 2020 Buick Encore cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,562 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $17,128 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $21,327 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $21,330 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −17.67% |
Prices have softened 17.67% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 114 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2020 Buick Encore a good car?
Yes — the 4.67/5 user rating suggests you can feel confident considering it if you want a used subcompact SUV with strong owner approval. That kind of feedback usually points to a vehicle that meets expectations for everyday use, comfort, and ownership satisfaction. With 28.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding one priced attractively.
Is the 2020 Buick Encore reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
For used buyers, that kind of owner feedback can reduce the risk of unpleasant surprises, though you should still verify maintenance history and overall condition before committing.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Buick Encore?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 114 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 17.67% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $17,128 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Buick Encore's resale value?
The current average of $17,562 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,330 CAD.
That softer pricing can be good news if you're buying now, but it also means future resale upside may be more limited if the market stays under pressure. If you plan to sell later, buying at the lower end of the range can help protect your position. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2020 Buick Encore or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 17.67% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line:
If you want a used Encore with a solid owner rating and a softer price environment, the 2020 is a sensible place to start. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, price, and deal quality.
