Is the 2020 BMW X3 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 BMW X3 earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its blend of style, performance, and functionality, along with its comfortable ride and high-tech features. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a compact luxury SUV that feels engaging to drive while still working well as a practical family vehicle. Is the 2020 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in day-to-day use, with praise centred on its comfort, technology, and overall ownership experience. That kind of response suggests the X3 can be a reassuring choice if you want a premium SUV you can count on over time. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about making sure the specific example has been maintained properly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 BMW X3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 171 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.38% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,470 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $26,445 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,529 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer resale environment than owners saw a year ago. If you buy now, you may benefit from the lower entry price, but you should still think about how quickly depreciation could affect your ownership costs. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

If you want the strongest mix of value, owner satisfaction, and current market softness, the 2020 is the year to focus on. It makes sense as the primary choice if you want a well-liked luxury SUV and can find one in good condition at a competitive price. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2020’s stronger market position.
