Is the 2019 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — 4.81/5 is a strong user rating, and it lines up with the 4Runner’s appeal as a rugged SUV with real off-road ability. Reviewers repeatedly describe it as reliable and dependable, with many saying it feels like a vehicle you can count on over the long term. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about trustworthiness and more about accepting the 4Runner’s higher fuel and ownership expenses.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 125 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.20% compared with last year.

What is the 2019 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $41,296 CAD sits slightly below last year's $44,027 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices continue to ease. The current range still suggests the 4Runner holds meaningful value, especially for shoppers who want a rugged SUV with a loyal following. If you own one and keep it in strong condition, you should still have a solid chance of attracting interest when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.81/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.81/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $43,881 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $41,296 CAD average.
• It adds standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: Choose the 2019 if you want the better value and are comfortable with its rugged, traditional SUV character. If you are price-sensitive, the 2019 is the smarter path; if you want to spend more for the next year’s added safety equipment, the 2020 is worth a look.
