Is the 2019 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.6/5, which points to strong overall satisfaction. The owner feedback highlights value for money, powerful engine options, and advanced features, while also noting the Explorer’s roomy, family-focused layout. That makes it a sensible fit if you want a practical three-row SUV with broad everyday usefulness. With 28.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owner feedback specifically points to reliability, and the summary also suggests many drivers feel confident in the Explorer’s dependable, trouble-free ownership experience. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been well maintained and inspected before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 340 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.16% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,800 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $20,888 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,521 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Explorer has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilises. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less downside left than a shopper who paid closer to last year’s average. Strong demand for a well-equipped, family-friendly three-row SUV can also help support resale interest over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.16% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $26,662 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $20,888 CAD average.
• It adds an all-new chassis with more technology and hybrid and high-performance powertrains.

The bottom line: The 2019 is the better primary pick if you want a lower entry price and strong owner satisfaction. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer platform and added technology, the 2020 is the upgrade path to consider.
