How much does the 2019 BMW X5 cost?

There are 173 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 BMW X5 a good car?

Yes — the 2019 BMW X5 earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its sleek design, advanced technology, luxury features, strong performance, and comfort. In practical terms, that makes it a strong fit if you want a luxury SUV that blends road manners with added space and a premium feel. The market also shows 33.5% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 BMW X5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that many owners find dependable and satisfying over time, with praise centred on its strong performance, comfort, and luxury feel. The expert assessment also highlights a powertrain that delivers consistent power and an automatic transmission that avoids the stumbles you can get from some smaller turbocharged setups. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps early ownership costs.

That said, used buyers should still watch for electrical concerns and remember that premium-SUV upkeep can become expensive if the previous owner deferred maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 BMW X5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base xDrive40i comes with AWD, adaptive LED headlights and fog lights, a panoramic sunroof, an adaptive suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped and power-adjustable steering wheel, faux-leather upholstery, a power liftgate, ambient lighting, and a digital gauge cluster with a 12.3-inch secondary touchscreen. Heated front seats are optional, and the most economical version still leaves some desirable equipment on the options list.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder in the xDrive40i, while the xDrive50i uses a 4.4-litre V8. The six-cylinder is described as buttery-smooth, with strong, immediate power and an eight-speed automatic that shifts cleanly and helps the X5 deliver 11.7 L/100 km in city driving, 9.1 on the highway, and 10.5 combined.
• Safety package: The available driver-assistance suite includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Most of those features are optional rather than standard, so check carefully before you buy.
• Infotainment: The X5 uses an updated iDrive system with a 12.3-inch secondary touchscreen. Wireless charging, enhanced USB and Bluetooth connectivity, a rear-view camera with 3D view, gesture control, and Parking Assistant Plus are available, but the system is described as less intuitive than the best in the segment.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test drive recorded 11.7 L/100 km in city driving, 9.1 L/100 km on the highway, and 10.5 L/100 km combined.

Which 2019 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2019 BMW X5 is offered in 2 trim levels: xDrive40i and xDrive50i.

Here's the short version:

• xDrive40i: This is the best-value choice if you want the core X5 experience without chasing the most expensive powertrain. You get the smooth turbocharged inline six, strong standard equipment, and the same upscale cabin and road manners that define the model.
• xDrive50i: Choose this if you want V8 power and are willing to pay for it. It adds a much stronger performance character, but the content makes clear that it can push the X5 well past the base price once options are added.

The safety package is impressive, but many of its features are optional, so verify the exact equipment on any used example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 BMW X5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 173 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.33% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,968 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $35,005 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,838 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the current average, your future resale value will depend heavily on mileage, condition, and maintenance history. Well-kept examples should still attract interest because the X5 has a strong reputation for performance and luxury appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 BMW X5 safe?

The 2019 BMW X5 earns a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS and a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover tests and five-star ratings in side crash tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW’s driver-assistance suite includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The safety content also notes that the brake-by-wire setup has a nearly natural feel, though it can occasionally get briefly grabby near the end of braking. The semi-autonomous driving package is described as difficult to recommend because it can wander in lane and overcorrect at speed.

Should I buy a 2019 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings an all-new design, more room, improved power, and a redesigned interior with updated iDrive and Level 2 autonomous technology.

The bottom line: If you want the newer body style, stronger powertrain, and updated cabin, the 2019 is the better path. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby older year may offer a lower entry point, but you give up some of the redesign’s space, power, and technology improvements.
