CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Acura RDX
Summary
With 16 currently listed for sale and an average price of $28,495 CAD, 25.0% of 2019 Acura RDX listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Acura RDX 4.4 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Acura RDX marked a clear shift for Acura’s compact luxury SUV, bringing back the sporty character that helped define the nameplate while keeping the practicality buyers expect. It uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine rated at 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and Acura’s torque-vectoring SH-AWD system. That combination gives the RDX a more engaging feel than many small luxury crossovers, and the brand’s Integrated Dynamics System adds selectable Snow, Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ modes to tailor the driving experience.
The 2019 model also stands out for its strong equipment list and broad trim range. Even the base version includes 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, keyless entry and ignition, heated and power front seats, faux leather seating surfaces, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. Higher trims add features such as navigation, parking sensors, a 12-speaker or 16-speaker audio system, ventilated front seats, a hands-free power liftgate, a colour head-up display, and a surround-view camera. AcuraWatch is standard, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, which helps the RDX feel well equipped for the class.
There are a few drawbacks to keep in mind. The True Touchpad Interface runs on a 10.2-inch display and was an improvement over older systems, but it is not especially intuitive. Cargo space is also good rather than class-leading, with up to 2,260 litres available with the rear seats folded, 1,668 litres with the front seats left in a normal position, and 835 litres with the rear seats up. Even so, the 2019 Acura RDX remains appealing because it blends sharp handling, strong performance, and a premium cabin in a package that feels more distinctive than many rivals.

Firstly, the 2019 RDX has become one of my favourite SUVs available for multiple reasons. It has all the main features included in present-day vehicles such as; lane assist, crash detection, blindspot assist, etc. Apple CarPlay integration is huge for an Apple-dominant home and it plays music almost perfectly through the ELS STUDIO 3D sound system. Secondly, the drivability of the RDX is great; its comfortable and works its way up into a sporty drive when switching the drive modes. Living in Canada means harsh winters and the SH-AWD gives my Lady and I confidence in every condition when equipped with good winter tires. I thought the RDX was a bit pricey when we picked up the car in 2021 but now owning the car for a couple of years, I think we made the right choice. It still has a great road presence because its aesthetically aggressive and sharp. Panoramic Roof, the front grille and the jewel lights are my favourite visual parts of this design. Couple things I would love to have though: HUD, Wireless CarPlay, Eco Mode (Not Automatic Engine Off). The reason I am not giving this platform a 5-star rating is because of the issues Ive faced in ownership. Ive had one recall involving the fuel system which wasnt bad but the timing was horrible. My glorious panoramic roof occasionally pops when the vehicle body endures bumps or uneven road surfaces. This one is big; the rearview glass is notorious for shattering because of a faulty design from the manufacturer. I was really hoping Acura would recall these beautiful SUVs and correct the error but that isnt the case as yet. Even with newer models, the problems seem to persist so be ready for this. Even with these problems, I believe this still holds the title of my favourite SUV. Might even upgrade to a newer model but Im more attracted to the 2019s sharper lines compared to the 2022s facelift smoother look. Id say amongst its competitors; BMW X4, X5, Lexus RX, Mercedes GLC, etc Id still opted to choose the Acura.

This car is comfortable and quick! Best ride of all the small SUVs I test drove. Fun to drive and feels very safe. Was surprised the ‘technology’ package does not have navigation-you have to utilize through your phone, which I haven’t quite figured out.

Is the 2019 Acura RDX a good car?
Generally — the 4.4/5 user rating suggests you’re looking at a well-liked compact luxury SUV. Owners consistently praise its stylish design, comfortable ride, and strong performance, and the turbocharged engine helps the RDX feel more engaging than many rivals. It also fits well if you want a premium cabin with useful everyday practicality and a broad feature set. With 31.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Acura RDX reliable?
Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, especially those who value comfort and strong everyday usability. The main caution is the infotainment system, which some owners found frustrating, so used buyers should make sure the controls work smoothly and feel intuitive to you. For long-term ownership, the biggest risk is more about living with the interface and feature content than about the core driving experience.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Acura RDX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.13% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $29,757 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $26,857 CAD average.
- It keeps the same package while adding stronger value positioning.
The bottom line:
You should start with the 2019 if you want the better price and a strong mix of comfort, performance, and premium features. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year option, the 2020 is the secondary path to consider, but price-sensitive buyers will likely find the 2019 the smarter buy.
