Is the 2018 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Yes — the 4.6/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its safety features, spaciousness, and reliability, and many also like its handling and the range of modern features. For you, that makes sense if you want a practical compact SUV that focuses on usefulness, safety, and long-term value rather than excitement. 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights reliability, and the model’s reputation is reinforced by comments about it being dependable and trouble-free over the long term. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used SUV you can count on for everyday driving. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright dependability and more about finding one that has been maintained properly and not worn down by heavy family use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota RAV4?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the best-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 423 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.20% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,830 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $21,451 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,115 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper what you recover later as a seller. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit on resale. The RAV4’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand, but the recent softening means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $26,564 CAD, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $21,451 CAD average.
• It adds bolder styling and a more upscale interior.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2018 if you want the better value and a proven, practical SUV with strong owner approval. Consider the 2019 if you’re willing to pay more for newer styling and a more modern feel, but price-sensitive buyers will likely find the 2018 the smarter buy.
