Owners commonly praise its comfortable ride, good fuel economy, and useful technology features. The roomy trunk also comes up as a practical advantage, especially if you want a sedan that works well for commuting, errands, and family use. In Canada, its standard all-wheel drive and broad safety equipment make it especially appealing if you want a well-equipped midsize sedan for everyday driving.

Is the 2018 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that many people find dependable enough for regular use, with comfort and efficiency helping it feel like a trouble-free daily driver for many shoppers. At the same time, some reviews mention transmission concerns and maintenance-related issues, so reliability can depend heavily on how well a specific used example has been cared for.

For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable if you focus on service history and condition, but you should still inspect any candidate carefully before buying.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Nissan Altima?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be patient and still find a solid example.

• Deal availability: 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 84 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.12% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $11,923 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $13,340 CAD sits slightly below last year's $13,914 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market is still rewarding buyers more than sellers right now. If you plan to resell later, you should expect value retention to be steady rather than standout, especially compared with models that hold their prices more aggressively.

Even so, the current price level can help you buy at a more favourable point in the cycle, which may reduce your depreciation exposure if you keep the car for several years.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 makes sense if you want a well-equipped, comfortable Altima with standard all-wheel drive and you value current pricing over chasing the newest redesign. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may still work, but the 2018 is a sensible middle ground when you want a strong feature set and a market that is not overheated.
