Yes — the 2018 Ford Mustang earns a 4.61/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its power, sporty design, fast acceleration, smooth ride, and enjoyable driving experience. The expert review also describes the Mustang as a more sophisticated and polished package, which supports the idea that it can be a car you count on for regular enjoyment rather than just occasional thrills. What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Ford Mustang?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin quality and equipment vary by trim, and Premium models add higher-quality materials, exposed contrast stitching, and available aluminium carbon-pattern trim. Base cars are more stripped back, so you should check whether the features you want are included before you buy.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a turbocharged 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine and a V8 GT, with rear-wheel drive as standard. The GT brings much stronger performance, while the EcoBoost is the value-oriented choice.
• Safety package: The car can be equipped with adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, driver monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Some of these features are configurable, and the lane-keeping assist can be switched off if you find it intrusive.
• Infotainment: The Mustang uses Sync 3, with a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, available navigation, a rearview camera, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Ford Sync Connect remote features through a smartphone app.
• Fuel efficiency: The V8-powered GT is rated at 12.5 L/100 km in combined driving, and the test loop returned 12.6 L/100 km.

Which 2018 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2018 Ford Mustang is offered in 4 trim levels: EcoBoost Coupe, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium.

Here's the short version:

• EcoBoost Coupe: This is the entry point if you want the Mustang look and rear-wheel-drive layout at the lowest price. It is the trim to consider if value matters most and you can live without the extra cabin upgrades.
• EcoBoost Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want a more polished interior without jumping to V8 pricing. It adds the nicer materials and ambience that make the car feel more upscale day to day.
• GT: Choose this if performance is your priority and you want the 5.0-litre V8 experience without paying for the extra luxury touches.
• GT Premium: This is the most complete mainstream trim if you want the V8 plus the upgraded cabin materials and available comfort features. It suits you best if you want the strongest blend of performance and refinement.

For safety-focused shoppers, note that the driver-assistance features are available, but the lane-keeping assist system may not suit everyone.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Ford Mustang?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 203 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.16% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,259 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $25,441 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,005 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can work against a future seller if you buy at the wrong point in the cycle. On the other hand, it also means you may be entering ownership at a more favourable cost basis than buyers who purchased a year earlier. If demand stays healthy, a well-kept Mustang with the right trim and equipment should remain easier to move than a less desirable performance car. Strong condition and desirable equipment will matter more if you want to protect your resale position later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.61/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2018 Mustang earns an Acceptable rating from IIHS for small-overlap frontal-impact protection and Good ratings in other crash-test assessments. It also earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Mustang’s driver-assistance suite includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, driver monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The system is tuned for performance driving, but the lane-keeping assist can detract from enjoyment if you leave it on. The main caveat is that the small-overlap frontal result is weaker than the rest of its crash-test performance.

Should I buy a 2018 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.16% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.61/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 update adds more sophisticated tech, stronger performance, and a more polished feel.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $30,145 CAD, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $25,441 CAD average.
• It adds the Bullitt special edition with extra power and distinctive styling.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2018 is the smarter buy because it combines strong owner satisfaction with a softer market price. If you are willing to pay more for a special-edition Mustang with extra character, the 2019 is the more distinctive choice.
