The current average of $24,701 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,465 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy with less risk of overpaying. For a future seller, it also means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and maintenance history than to age alone. Well-kept examples should still attract interest, but you may need to price competitively if you want a quick sale.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.35/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

Choose the 2018 if:

• 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.35/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $35,812 CAD, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $24,701 CAD average.
• It brings a redesigned interior with updated iDrive and Level 2 driver-assist technology.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2018 if you want the stronger value play and are comfortable shopping carefully for condition and history. Consider the 2019 if you want the newer-generation design and are willing to pay a much higher price for it.
