What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Audi Q5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard Q5 comes in Komfort, Progressiv, and Technik trim levels. The base trim includes essentials such as AWD, 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, and a three-zone climate control system, while higher trims add more premium equipment and technology.
• Powertrain: You’re looking at a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 252 horsepower and a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission. The drivetrain includes Quattro AWD and a Drive Mode Select system with five settings, including an off-road mode.
• Safety package: Audi Pre-Sense includes forward-collision detection and automatic emergency braking that works below 80 kilometres per hour. Available driver assistance includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and Vehicle Exit Assist. Some features are not standard on every trim.
• Infotainment: Bluetooth and a rearview camera are standard on all models. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available, and the MMI Touch system uses a touchpad on the centre control knob. Technik models add Audi Virtual Cockpit with a 12.3-inch digital display, plus a full-colour head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The official fuel consumption estimate is 9.6 litres per 100 kilometres in combined city and highway driving.

Which 2018 Audi Q5 trim should I buy?

The 2018 Audi Q5 is offered in 3 trim levels: Komfort, Progressiv, Technik.

Here's the short version:

• Komfort: This is the entry point, but it still gives you a strong luxury baseline with AWD, 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, and a three-zone climate control system. It makes sense if you want the Q5 experience without chasing extra tech.
• Progressiv: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it builds on the base model with more of the premium features and a better overall equipment balance. If you want the sweet spot between price and content, this is the one to target.
• Technik: This is the most tech-forward version, adding Audi Virtual Cockpit, a 12.3-inch digital display, a full-colour head-up display, and Bang & Olufsen premium Surround Sound. Choose it if you want the most advanced cabin experience.

Safety equipment is strongest when you add the available driver-assistance features, including Audi Pre-Sense, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Audi Q5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 26.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 345 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.17% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,037 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Audi Q5's resale value?

The current average of $19,037 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,984 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Q5 has become more accessible to used buyers, which can make it easier for you to attract interest if you sell later. At the same time, softer pricing today means future resale gains may depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples with desirable features should still stand out, especially if they present as clean, premium, and well maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Audi Q5 safe?

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Audi Pre-Sense includes forward-collision detection and automatic emergency braking below 80 kilometres per hour, and the Q5 also offers adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and Vehicle Exit Assist. The main caveat is the headlight result on certain versions, so you should pay close attention to the lighting equipment on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2018 Audi Q5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 26.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.17% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Audi’s redesign brings the latest technology, improved performance and driving dynamics, more interior room, and greater overall sophistication.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern version of this generation’s Q5, the 2018 model is the one to prioritise because it brings the redesign, stronger tech, and a more polished driving experience. If you’re more price-sensitive, you can still find good value in the market, but the 2018 is the better pick when you want the freshest package and the strongest all-round appeal.
