Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Volvo XC90?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to be choosy if you’re comparing listings.

• Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 92 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 22.75% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,452 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $19,452 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,179 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favourable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and service records than it would be in a stronger pricing environment. Well-kept examples should still attract interest, especially if they present as clean, well maintained family SUVs.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

The bottom line:

If you want a luxury midsize SUV with strong owner approval, a premium-feeling cabin, and family-friendly practicality, the 2017 XC90 is the primary year to target. If your priority is stretching your budget further, you can also compare nearby years for the right combination of price and condition, but the 2017 stands out as a solid choice when you find a well-priced example with good history.
