Is the 2017 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Toyota RAV4 earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Is the 2017 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

The owner feedback highlights reliability, and the model’s reputation is built around being a low-cost, low-hassle long-term companion. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright dependability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by heavy use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota RAV4?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 24.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 306 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.07% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,146 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $19,152 CAD sits slightly below last year's $19,758 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future sellers may face a softer pricing environment if conditions stay similar. Even so, the RAV4’s steady reputation for practicality and reliability should help support demand when it is time to sell. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance records organised, you should be in a better position to protect value over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 24.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a strong choice if you want the RAV4’s practical, low-hassle formula and you find a well-priced example with the equipment you want. If you are especially price-sensitive, it is worth comparing nearby years to see whether a similar vehicle offers a better deal, but the 2017 remains a sensible target for shoppers who value reliability and everyday usefulness.
