Is the 2017 Toyota Highlander a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Toyota Highlander earns a 4.86/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfort, power, and family-friendly design, and many also like its smooth driving experience and useful features. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a practical midsize SUV for daily family use, especially if comfort and versatility matter more than driving excitement. With 30.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Toyota Highlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights reliability, with comments pointing to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience and strong long-term value. That matters if you want a used SUV you can count on for family duty without constant surprises.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained properly, since even a well-regarded model can become costly if previous care was inconsistent.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Highlander?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some confidence if you are patient and price-aware.

• Deal availability: 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 120 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.50% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $26,031 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Highlander's resale value?

The current average of $26,679 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,937 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you are thinking about future value, the current trend implies a steadier, more measured resale environment rather than a rapidly appreciating one. A buyer-friendly market today can be a seller's challenge later if prices continue to soften.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a well-liked, family-focused midsize SUV with strong owner approval and a softer price trend, the 2017 Highlander is the primary year to target. If your main priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby older year may be worth a look, but the 2017 offers a compelling balance of value, demand, and owner satisfaction.
