Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Toyota Corolla earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its fuel efficiency, comfort, and features, and many also highlight its reliability and ride quality. That fits well if you want a practical, easy-to-live-with compact car that prioritises substance over flash. Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly points to reliability, and owners also describe it as dependable and built for trouble-free everyday use. That kind of reputation matters if you want a car you can count on for long-term ownership with fewer surprises. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the Corolla’s core durability and more about finding one that has been maintained properly over time.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Corolla?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the best-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 296 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.09% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $15,533 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Corolla's resale value?

The current average of $15,745 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,766 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, the Corolla’s value will likely depend on how well it holds buyer interest relative to other compact cars. Its broad appeal and practical reputation should help, but the current trend suggests you should not expect a strong appreciation story.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $14,570 CAD, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $15,745 CAD average.
• It offers strong value and everyday usefulness.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2017 if you want the newer model-year updates and are comfortable paying a bit more for them. If your priority is saving money first, the 2016 is the better value path, especially if you find a clean example with the features you need.
