Is the 2017 RAM 3500 a good car?

Yes — the 4.6/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its strong towing capability, comfortable ride, and the powerful Cummins diesel engine, while also appreciating the luxurious features available in trims like the Laramie. For you, that means this truck makes the most sense if you want serious hauling ability with a more refined cabin and enough configuration flexibility to suit work or everyday use. With 24.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 RAM 3500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that many drivers feel they can count on, especially for towing and heavy-duty use. The repeated praise for the Cummins diesel and the comfortable ride suggests dependable day-to-day ownership for buyers who need a long-term workhorse. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the truck’s core appeal and more about making sure the specific example has been maintained properly given its heavy-duty life.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 RAM 3500?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare options without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 24.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 78 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.86% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,545 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $39,244 CAD sits slightly below last year's $50,220 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price more competitively than owners did a year ago. Even so, the truck’s strong towing reputation and upscale appeal help support demand among shoppers who want heavy-duty capability with a more premium feel. If you buy well and keep the truck in strong condition, that combination can help preserve value better than a more ordinary work truck.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 24.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a strong choice if you want a heavy-duty truck with serious towing ability, a more comfortable cabin, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years to see whether a similar truck offers a better deal, but the 2017 remains a compelling pick for buyers who value capability and owner satisfaction.
