CarGurus Analysis: 2017 Porsche Macan
Summary
With 99 currently listed for sale and an average price of $24,325 CAD, 31.3% of 2017 Porsche Macan listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Porsche Macan 4.86 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2017 Porsche Macan stands out because it blends Porsche’s sports-car character with compact SUV practicality. From the start, it was designed to be smaller and nimbler than the Cayenne, and all models have all-wheel drive and a seven-speed PDK automatic transmission. That formula helps explain why it has long been regarded as one of the best-driving vehicles in its class, with a fast, fun feel that suits buyers who want luxury without giving up performance.
For 2017, the Macan’s range expanded with two new variants in Canada. The base model used a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with 252 horsepower, while the Macan GTS sat between the Macan S and Macan Turbo with a 360-horsepower version of the 3.0-litre V6. The model also benefits from a high-quality interior and strong standard equipment, including electric front seat adjustment, electric folding door mirrors, and a power tailgate. Owners also praise its power, handling, and premium build quality.
The main trade-offs are the ones you would expect from a sleek performance-focused SUV. Rear-seat space is below average, and the Macan is not especially spacious inside. It can also be expensive compared with other SUVs in its class, and higher-powered versions are noted for poor fuel economy. Even so, the 2017 Porsche Macan remains appealing for buyers who value sharp driving manners, a luxurious feel, and a compact SUV that feels distinctly Porsche.

It's a fantastic car. It's practical to use, unlike a sports car, exceptionally comfortable for long trips, and when you push the go pedal down, things get exciting quickly.

- Inventory: There are 176 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 15.28% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $24,648 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Porsche Macan's resale value?
The current average of $24,981 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,485 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has become more buyer-friendly, which can make future resale a little more sensitive to mileage, condition, and equipment. If you buy well now and keep the vehicle in strong shape, you may be better positioned when it is time to sell. A softer market today can also help you avoid overpaying, which matters because your eventual resale value starts with your purchase price.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Porsche Macan or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 15.28% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2017 is a strong choice if you want the Macan’s sporty character, premium feel, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 stands out as a compelling balance of owner satisfaction and current value.
